What are your opinions on Haibane Renmei?
>>142258079
where they all in purgatory or limbo? who are the toga and what is beyond the wall?
>yfw they're in the same realm
>>142258665
seems similar
Pretty good
I can't believe people still remember it
>>142258079
It's one of the best ever made despite episode 5 being really slow and the animation is poor at times.
I just got the scenario collection doujins (with production sketches and notes) from Mandarake and might scan them some day
>>142258079
I didn't finish it, kind of stalled out on ep 2 or 3. It was nice, but creepy. I don't usually go in for the supernatural stuff.
Depressing as fuck but I am glad I watched it.
>>142262457
That's what really bothered me about it, it is sad, but the ending is uplifting, but I still felt depressed for a while after watching it. But I love it.
>>142258079
Will americans grown wings when trump finishes the wall?
>>142262516
The ending felt like a punch in the gut, but overall it was an enjoyable experience. I enjoy like, one of my favorites right next to YKK.
>>142258079
If I wanted to watch angels fuck around, I'd watch Evangelion.I actually haven't watched this yet. I'll get there soon.
>>142258665
Ko Otani did the soundtrack for both of these which is probably why they feel similar
>>142262952
Shadow of The Colossus is my favorite Game and Haibane Renmai is my favorite Anime
>>142262074
i'll never forget
>>142262610
Evengelion is overrated shit
Rakka is best girl
>>142266431
Rakka is love.
>>142258079
Really good lore, visuals and world building. Awful theme and moral which drags the narrative into shit in the final Act.
>>142266920
i love her
Main characters of the season2.
>>142267166
does it really need a season 2? it's my favorite anime and i loved every bit of it
Love it.
Do their wings twitch when they orgasm?
>>142272746
Hikari a cuteA C_U_T_E
>>142258079
It begins to slow down pretty badly in episodes 2-5, but the second half is completely enthralling. Overall great series solid 9/10.
>>142267328
The only thing I would want S2 for is to expand on the backstory. Otherwise it's a perfect SoL. Or would that be slice-of-afterlife?
If it was from 2016, there would be a LN to get backstory from, but this was from back when men were men etc.
It has interesting settings and world, too bad all the world building got shafted for shitty forced drama.
The drama at the end kinda ruined it for me
One of the greatest first episodes of all time. Sputters out quickly afterward. Plot went in a direction that was slow and disappointing for a lot of viewers. I still enjoyed it, but it wasn't what I had hoped it would be after episode 1. I guess I was kind of hoping for Angel Beats-tier sadness.
Now that I think about it AB might have been kind of inspired by HR.
>>142278122
>Angel beats tier sadness
Is this more sad or less sad to you?
soranowoto/10
>>142258079
10/10 show.
Would rewatch in fall or winter.
>>142278122
AB was garbage compared to HR, however.
>>142278122
Angel Beats was shit though.
The drama in this show was more well-done, despite what some /a/utists say, who just hate drama for the sake of hating drama.
Pretty good, I use to watch it on long bus journeys. Made them really comfy and the Anime reminds me of travelling now.
>>142278664
>Not watching Kino no Tabi while traveling
>>142278714
>Kino no Tabi
It been on my list for years but when I look for a torrent or what order to watch them in I get confused.
It took me ages to find a good Mononoke(the series not the movie) torrent
a brilliant anime, the drama was well done, soundtrack is a 10/10
>>142258079
It was good, but I made the mistake of being too hyped for it after someone compared it to my #1 favourite and was slightly taken aback when it was very different. I also kind of feel like the angst in the last few episodes was slightly overbearing and, I'll admit, the train scene made me laugh as much as Mayoiga's episode 6.
Also, the Haibane Renmei is the chillest and most trustworthy shady organisation ever.
>>142278805
>what order to watch them
Series, movie 1 then movie 2. It's not rocket science. Just go and watch it.
>>142274111
I feel the same as I do with SnW.
I really want to learn more about the world, but at the same time a S2 would probably fuck up my memories and feelings.
>>142278870
The first time I saw it I was definitely expecting something else. I was expecting there to be some big reveals. What was over the wall, Rakka's past, and so on. So I was a bit disappointed.
On rewatches I learned the error of my ways. Interpretation is often better than exposition. It's just about the Haibane themselves and how they live. So yeah now it's my favorite show without doubt.
What was your favorite they compared it to?
>>142279128
>What was your favorite they compared it to?
You mentioned it.
I don't know what felt so different about the two considering both contain similar themes, but then again I can't even explain properly why SnW is my favourite. It's just, everything about it pulled at all of my heartstrings: the worldbuilding, the comfort, the characters, and most importantly the feeling of undying hope woven through the entire series even in the most tragic times.
I love HR but I forgot just how bad the animation was. It's like those animated skits in the middle of live action children's TV shows.
>>142279301
I'm probably going to rewatch Haibane after my obligatory SnW rewatch this year, though. In hindsight my view of the series might improve, as you said.
It's quite easily the best anime among the ones that have a SOL tag slapped on them.
>>142279301
They do seem similar on the surface, but tonally they're different and they have pretty different messages.
They both have great soundtracks, but SnW's is just the best.
>>142279356
It has its moments. The Blu-Ray looks awful though.
>>142279456
>but tonally they're different and they have pretty different messages.
This reminds me.
Another anon in a thread put it like this: Sora no Woto is about wholesome people in a broken world, Haibane Renmei is about broken people is a wholesome world.
>>142279456
>>142279301
>Mediocrity that panders to the lowest common denominator is better than Haibane.
>>142279630
The first post you quoted only said SnW's soundtrack was better.
I do, however, love SnW more than Haibane, or, in fact, any other series that's not Hyougemono. Sorry anon.
>>142258079
I really wanted to read ABe original doujin but it is nowhere to be found, I hope I could see more explanations about the setting, why they have angel-like features, the Toga, what lie beyond the walls,if they are in limbo/purgatorybut I guess not even ABe has answers
>>142280099
Sometimes it's better to have mysteries left unanswered than to have them answered in an unsatisfactory way.
LikeDennou Coil
Took a while to start to like it, but pleasant series, atmosphere was sad and overall enjoyable. Definitely not what I expected after watching texhnozlyze and Lain.
>>142266431
Nah, pretty sure Hikari was best girl
It's one of those shows that hurts to think about.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCjb9M9OExo
>>142281221
Don't forget to watch Niea_7. Here is the strange recommendation list.
>>142267041
>Awful theme and moral
Humanism is awful? It's a pretty common theme
>>142278122
Fuck off angel beats is medicore and not even that sad Haibane Renmei is much better and much sadder
>>142278870
Which is your favorite anime?
>>142278870
How was the train scene bad or funny?
>>142258079
It's really good. Not quite as good as Lain or Texhnolyze but still maybe top 10.
>>142281531
i heard that ABe doesn't care much for it
>>142281531
>despera
It's time to stop hoping, anon.
>>142283590
It's actually my favorite with Lain and Texhnolyze tied for 2nd
>>142283671
It's good.
>>142273795
a cute angel?
>>142281951
A lot of people don't really like "dovish" moral themes for some reason. Probably autism.
Don't know about you guys but I really like the animation and overall look of this series. Along with all the early digital age DVD anime like Kino, Aria, Niea, and all the other stuff that came out before BDs became a norm. The sketchy drawings and washed out DVD quality makes me feel warm
>>142286218
YKK is amazing, but you need to read the manga.
Rakka needed a hair brushing
>>142283488
Both are shitty forced drama.
>>142287954
I'll take any excuse to post this
My only complaint was that it would've been nice to see a resolution with the other haibane instead of just Reki, Kuu and Rakka
>>142288303
Kana finished her clock, Nemu finished her book. Midori learned to forgive; Hyohko learned to accept his mistakes (I think). Hikari... was hopeless in a cute way.
