I'm writing a mango about a full helmet wearing adventurer. His sheer level of ignorance to dire situations is astonishing to onlookers and he hates to be questioned. To become a good artist, you don't have to just practice, you have to practice the right way. People like to tackle art had on and go straight into drawing animu or a face, and wonder why their drawings look like shit. What they really need to do is start with circles and boxes and then progress step by step until they're able to draw faces and bodes and such.

To understand a certain artist's artsyle it's good to first trace the actual image and trying to understand the certain choices the artist put into creating the character. After that try to redraw the same image from imagination, you can use the original image as a reference but you have to slowly ween yourself off of using references. After you've learned how to draw the character, try playing around with the mannequin. Draw the character siting down, or maybe draw the character with it's head bent down looking to the ground or draw the character stretching with it's arms up.
Basically reverse engineer the entire character all while trying to understand why the artist drew it the way that they did.
