Don't force yourself to watch K-on. Walk away from it from a bit and if you ever feel a need to go back to it, do so. It's not the sort of show you watch in 2 days or something.

I generally love these kinds of shows, but I could barely get through the first episodes. Some things like the unrealistic arc about Yui getting that expensive guitar just annoyed me, and Mugi barely even exists.
It gets better later on, though. I'd rank season 2 among my favourite anime. The movie is great too.
