Correction.

Older male teenagers and men read seinen and only old school shounen.

Modern shounen, Shoujo are for little boys and teenage girls.
>>
This thread is for real men only. Only the manliest of men enjoy watching REAL relationships being developed, the REAL struggles you must face, overcoming faces over obstacles and many more. Boys can just leave already. Lets get to it men
>>
>>142107450

Of course.

Women and boys enjoy shounen (see HxH).
Men and girls enjoy shoujo.
Seinen is for teenagers and manchildren.

Also marmalade boy probably has one of the best OPs ever made:

Season 5 when?
>>
>>142108437
What too realistic for you? I guess you only like it when all girls get wet for the bland boring guy because he is nice.
>>
>>142108036
I really liked it. "No budget" Gainax fucked the anime adaptation ending up, and burned the mangaka from ever adapting again. I really liked the Anime, especially the experimentation and the music, but the Manga is pretty much a standard Shojo story. REad it if you have a bad taste in your mouth from the Anime, it picks up around Volume 10.

Miki is a needy worrywort who has a constant inferiority complex

Anno also quit 3/4 of the way through the series. They had 3 different directors after than, and like $7 per episode, so they had to start getting creative cause the producer fucked away all the money. Its a valiant effort, but there is so much bullshit recap 2 frame, no movement stuff in the final 3 or 4 episodes its laughable. At least the Manga kept going, and gave me some fucking closure.

Oh, dont get me wrong, the anime is amazing (Again, minus the last 3 episodes). It is the first thing Hideaki Anno with Gainax did post eva, and it has a lot of the experimental techniques in it. Some very nice character development, and trope ignoring, too. Its just a nice thing that once you finish the show, you'll be aching for more, and there is a TON (The anime covers less than a third of the manga)

If that still isnt your thing though, Pick up literally anything else in this thread.

What kind are you looking for?
If I could base only on Say I Love You, I'd recommend Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun.
Both with essencially the same premise over the MC (and in both the main couple kiss in the first episode) and yet in Tonari you actually starts to like the cast and in Say I Love You you just want to puch everyone for being so stupid and just not talking.
Tonari deals with the same themes but with a much more convincing and engaging way (it also has a really good character design versus the soulless clichés of Say I Love You), if you're going anime the music and and direction is also better.

I know there is good shoujo, but take the randomly chosen series and it has worse and more repetitive cliches than your average harem manchild series. I used to watch a lot of shoujo but at some point I became physically ill when thinking about how shit the next series would be, so I kind of want to forget shoujo ever existing.

But how do you read if you don't physically watch the paper? Do you use josei audiobooks or something?
>>
>>142112696
Nope, I didn't touch the manga.
And I don't plan to, the 12 episodes of the anime where enought of a torture.
I'm not talking about the resoluction of these problems, but they mere existence.
It's the same miscommunication problem over and over again with it being ''resolved'' just to another one to appear in the corner.
In Tonari they do have the miscommunication problem but it's only one, and it's a whole arc for it (and after it's done, it's done).
I just can't get into my head how you find Tonari cliché but not Say I Love You.
>>

Josei
>>
>>142114275
It's a love story.
>>
>>142114217
Because the problems faced in Say I Love You are grounded. They have to do with the characters short comings which are fairly realistic and those are never dragged out for too long, leading to actual progress. In Tonari the 'problems' were the cliche shojo problems and were solved in the same old manner they're solved in pretty much every other one.

Maybe the problem is that you watched the anime, I haven't, I've only read the manga and when comparing the two Say I Love You is miles and miles ahead. In the manga it's not just miscommunication, hell it's never actualy miscommunication but an inability to express themselves due to social anxiety and questions of self worth. Miscommunication is more like Kimi ni Todoke the whole confession shit. The characterizations actually make sense and the motivations of each character never seem particularly outlandish.

Pleaides died because it was pretty bad anime actually. There's the definite circlejerk fanbase, but it's pretty much an anime without anything else than "fun" factor, which in most cases isn't really a compliment.
>>

But that's the only argument I've ever seen anyone try to back up something as forgettable as Pleaides with. I agree it's a meme, but it's not mine.
>>
>>142115278
I thought it was very safe, but definitely not 'bad'. Just overall normal.

But in today's world, where 90% of anime are adaptations that don't even get 1/4 of the way through their source material's story, it was a godsend to finally have a self-contained story which wrapped up nicely.

The cute relationship was icing on the cake.

Also, more series need to have friends who go full 'powarm' over their friends interacting and having relationships. The girls stalking and watching them was equally cute.
>>
>>142115566
>it was a godsend to finally have a self-contained story which wrapped up nicely
There's original anime wrapping up nicely almost every season. It's beyond me why you chose Pleaides as the best representative.

My sister only watches/reads shounenshit (e.g. HxH) and seinen. Also some currently-airing stuff (Habanero, Re;zero), but nothing even remotely close to cute girls doing cute things.

She hates shoujo. I don't know what she'd think of me if she knew that her brother adored Kaichou wa Maid-sama or any of the other billion shoujos I've watched and enjoyed.

According to your logic, she's a man. Close enough anyway, she's tall DFC.

On the other end, I've slept with 2/3 of my attractive female cousins who were a solid 7/10 and a 10/10 with 10 being 'mai waifu'-tier and loved shoujo. I think I found the key to women.

It is true that Zen isn't as prominent as you might think, but this is because he's stuck at the castle, so he sends Obi in his place. Current chapters are focusing on Zen.

Admit it /a/, you self-insert as the girl.

I know I do, I've always self-inserted as the girl in everything from VNs (even in H-scenes) to anime to literature. Maybe it has something to do with being able to better empathize and get along with women than men. Probably because I've always basically acted like a girl since pre-school (I've always been REALLY emotional), and wound up with exclusively female friends.

God, I have brain problems.

I definitely find myself cheering on certain characters though, since shoujo is basically built for shipping characters anyway.
