I don't regret watching it because it has some really good music but so far the entire experience has been 6/10 due to excessive length of the main series (that shit should have been 24eps not 49).

IIRC US courts determined the Harmony Gold was a co-owner of the copyright, which is why the whole thing is kind of why the whole thing is sticky. Theoretically Studio Nue/Satelight/whoever could release a Macross title in the US, it's just that under US law HG could block it being co-owners of the IP. So technically the Japanese rights holders could release a Macross show in the US, have HG try to block them, and then sue them for sole-rights based on a disagreement with the co-owners, but that's risky and expensive, and no Japanese anime studio is going to want to go through the wringer like that for a few extra sale.
The only way I could see that changing is if HG somehow magically got a Robotech movie made and tried to sell it internationally, since their IP ownership doesn't have that kind of range, and once it hit Japan, who ever is currently writing the cheques for Macross would want to see revenue for any Robotech release in Japan.

That literally describes Symphogear, though. Staff went to insane degrees during S1 one to synch the music with the action on-screen, specially in the way the girls are singing the songs while fighting. The movements of their mouth fit with the lyrics.
Admittedly it was too much work for something not many people took notice of so latter seasons toned it down.

No they aren't and never were. The only have a fucking trademark on the name "Macross" and the rights to distribute the anime which they got from Tatsunoko Productions. Tatsunoko already lost their legal battle against Big West/Studio Nue and HG's rights should be void.
