There are manga, but I guess none of them were ever big enough to get animated. It doesn't help that most big long running series avoid actual gender-swaps as a story feature for secondary characters. We get traps all the time, but gender swaps are generally only in limited stories at best, rather than used as the story of a recurring character.

This confuses me too. I don't know why "being a girl" isn't more of a thing that takes focus. Even something as simple as a gender swapped person trying to deal with their new like as 'opposite-gender'yes, like mai ShindoL doujinsisn't really done by anything.
