This point is actually pretty notable. In the main story we're used to having Aqua and her literally god tier healing capabilities around, so no casualty raids on even the strongest opponents aren't that weird.
But this is before Kazuma and Aqua formed the party. Anyone who dies just fucking dies, game over. Mitsurugi was apparently able to stall Hoost long enough for (hopefully) everyone with him to get away, and that's after he got blasted with high level magic.
I mean, sure, in the main story that wouldn't be impressive either since we're familiar with Darkness' idiotically high defensive stats too, but not everyone's like her!

Vanir's spinoff is basically all of the big side characters (and Aqua) getting some time in the spotlight. It's actually really nice, because it's rare for a LN's side characters to be interesting enough to carry a story without the MC nearby.
The stars of each chapter are:
1. Dust and Yunyun
2. Iris
3. Luna
4. The succubi
5. Wiz
Chapter 4 is awesome, by the way.Aqua accidentally finds out about the succubi and gets ready to purge the shit out of them. In comes Vanir, who may not be particularly fond of them but is still their lord so he's not going to stand by and let them die. Aqua proceeds to remind everyone she isn't a complete joke and murders Vanir like four times in the ensuing battle. She's eventually pacified, and Vanir leaves one parting shot: he can see that in the future, Aqua will come back to the succubi and apologize in tears.
She does, because someone tells Kazuma.

Kadokawa DMCA'd Skythewood's page because he was translating Konosuba.
Skythewood created a "fanfic" which had extactly the same content as the translation of Konosuba, but since it's a "fanfic" they can't really complain about copyright infringement as far as I know.
I thought he did to avoid Yen Press shitting up yet another translation project, but it seems he was just doing it because they DMCA'd him before they actually licenced Konosuba.
And now he is stopping the translations once vol 9 is done and we'll have to way DECADES for the lazy faggots at Yen Press to gives us a low quality translation.

How strong is the party, anyway?
Mitsurugi is presumably supposed to be your average overpowered Sent To Another World MC, and he's constantly in the thick of things so you'd think his level would be really high by now. He's the most famous of the heroes so presumably he's the strongest person on the human side, too. So why is it that he hasn't seem to have killed a single Demon Lord General?
I mean sure, Kazuma's party is absurdly overspecialized, has Aqua, and are generally working together with a bunch of other people, but Mitsurugi should have the backing of an entire royal army. Why does he suck so much?

He doesn't suck, it's just that Kazuma's party has either such shit luck or such great luck that they always happen to be in the same place where a Demon Army General shows up.
The party is pretty strong anyway. Aqua is literally a god-tier priest which can bring people back from the dead and excorsise the shit our of everything; Darkness has ridiculous ammounts of endurance, to the point that she can tank pretty much everything and Megumin's Explosion spell can one-hit KO most of the enemies they come across (and when she can't, they just need to weaken the enemy till she can finish it off).
Kazuma isn't particularly powerful due to being an adventurer, but he is cunning as fuck and knows how to use the few supposedly shitty skills he has. He's basically a wild card, his main strenght isn't his diverse skills but his craftiness.

Quality > Quantity.
Kazuma is pretty useless for large scale battles, but pit him in a 1v1 or similarly small scale fight and he excels. He's the most well-connected of the party, so it's thanks to him that they occasionally enjoy the support of Axel's adventurers or Wiz or even Vanir's behind-the-stage scheming. He's also the only adventurer around with Drain Touch, which as he's proven is absurdly overpowered if used right.
Aqua is literally a god, and the number one reason the party can win so many of their fights. Her buffs and heals are unmatched, her exorcism capabilities are a huge Fuck You to any demon, and worst comes to worst she's literally the head of a cult. They've never needed it yet, but Kazuma's party straight up has a religion backing them.
Megumin is a one-trick pony, but Explosion is a really good trick. If it hits someone, they're fucked. Having her around also means having Yunyun around, who's a far more competent mage. And technically it also means they have the backing of the Crimson Demons, who are so OP they can fight off the entire Demon Lord Army by themselves.
And then there's Darkness, who is just straight up immortal. She's demonstrated such feats as tanking Explosion and holding up the entire Kowloon Hydra, she is nigh invulnerable. Her accuracy's shit, but the party's main damage comes from Megumin or Aqua so who gives a shit. Her being able to stall even the strongest of opponents is a large part of why most of Kazuma's plans can succeed. And of course, she's a very esteemed noble, to the point that she can just wave her necklace and boom, the party is officially above the law.
Compared to that, Mitsurugi is just a decent all-rounder with the backing of an army of regular soldiers. That's fine for fighting grunts, but not good enough for bosses.

It's not the most glamorous position, and as pointed out in volume 6 there are others who can probably do it too. But at the same time, there are very few people who could probably get along with those three chucklefucks as well as Kazuma does.
