Anime has turned to shit but this one always seemed alright. How does it compare to Cowboy Bebop or Gurren Laggan, as it for some reason looks like a mixture of both to me.

Space Dandy was amazing The episode that weren't straight up comedy were straight up surreal and otherwordly. It really felt like you were on an adventure with Dandy and the crew.
Time for another rewatch.

When I re watched ep 3, I realized the show was actually insane. Meow getting swallowed alive, Dandy running away from the monster with the amazing ambiance music behind, absolutely scared. And you don't even notice that Meow is absent for the rest of the episode because Dandy doesn't seem to care (we're still right after they meet at boobies so they aren't attached yet).
If this show was more serious it would have been a masterpiece.
It still is one for me tho. Fucking amazing show
