But that's not anyone's fault but women. The entire reason the wage gap myth exists isn't because there is an ACTUAL wage gap. Here in Canada women take home the exact same pay as men for every hour worked, yet men take home around 1/3 more than women every year. The reason being, men just work more. It is a hard fact that men will more often choose their work over the personal life or family life, the will show up earlier and work later. They're more likely to put in for overtime hours.
Companies will always behave in the manner that will gain them the most profit, because that is their only goal as well as the reason they exist. Therefore it is inevitable that a company would prefer to hire a man (for certain positions, it's practically impossible to get a job as a receptionist or working behind a cash register).
I'm not saying this isn't a problem, it certainly is, but it's a problem with no obvious solution. We can't start paying women more for the amount they do work, because that's unfair. We can't force women to work more because that's even worse. Really the only solution is if women on average decided to start working more, which isn't likely to happen, just because of human nature.
Basically, men are hard wired back from evolutionary days to work harder and compete for women's attention, women have the greatest investment in procreation (they are essentially immobilized for 9 months), therefore it makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint that they would get to be selective of who they mate with, and as such, men are hard-wired to want to compete and best each other all the time, making them preferable in the work place to women who (through no fault of their own, blame god or nature for this) are just naturally more complacent.
