It is better, Chromab literally emulates the effect of a really shitty camera lens, it looks phenomenally out of place in anything but a fully colored and landscaped picture, and even then should be avoided, at best you could argue it can look proper on an image of something that's meant to be in motion.
It just makes your art hard to look at, relying on it is a bad gimmick and you should move past that.

Chromatic aberration is an effect that would look fine if used in the proper situation.
The problem these days is that beginners see this really cool looking effect and lay it on their work to add more visual "substance." In an ironic twist, the effect which is supposed to elevate the image's value instead highlights the weaknesses of the artist's core skills.
This isn't unlike adding Instagram filters to shitty cellphone camera photos.
There are plenty of other tricks that amateur artists use to hide their inadequacies:

>Dark shadows to cover up detail in painting
>Only drawing portraits and avoiding full bodies, etc
We've all been there, but frankly, the work with all the "cool effects" are more cringeworthy at that stage.
