It's been a while since I watched it so I'm not entirely sure myself.
I remember that the show was very confusing from a narrative stand point, with the first "prologue" episode being a dozy. The siblings antagonistic attitude towards one another went beyond an acceptable level of sibling rivalry since I think they wanted to leave the capital but seemed to refuse to cooperate with one another for unclear reasons. And in the end they siblings all go batshit and fight for some reasons which further confused me, as did the ending.
The tl;dr of it all is I didn't understand the show or follow the narrative very well. I didn't enjoy the characters from what I can recall and overall had a bad time with the show with no redeeming features coming to mind.
Okay, I've been convinced.

I'd first like to point out that the prologue you're talking about is most likely the ONA that was pretty much like a proof of concept over an actual episode. The true first episode just introduces the characters.The only sibling that really, truly wanted to leave the Mirror Kyoto was Kurama who was the Buddhist child. Yase, the sister, loved the capital. Myoue just wanted to kill himself, but he also had some issues with being the only truly aging one inside of the Mirror Capital. They all wanted their parents back though, for very different reasons mind you. That was their true wish.The narrative is actually pretty simple. Aside from the last few or so episodes where there's a somewhat big info drop, it's really just a story about a family that has problems, but gets through it in the end. The info drop at the end just reveals that Inari/Priest Myoue is technically the son of God and creator of life. He feels burdened with the responsibility of being God though and wants to end his own life and pass on the responsibility to his children. That's pretty much it.

I never get bored. The Aria anime usually has one main point per episode and that's it, other characters barely appear or sometimes none at all throughout the episode.

I agree with this, at least compared to a lot of other SOL shows, but Aria is more focused on the main cast than anything else and t here is nothing wrong with that. Also I think keeping the supporting characters's screen time rare makes what little we see of them much more meaningful. It's a sincerely nice treat to one of the supporting cast members stop by and make an appearance just like it is to see someone stop by Alpha cafe in YKK. I don't think that same effect would be retained if they shoehorned more of the supporting characters in every episode.

I actually thought the anime original filler was spectacular, I found the snowball chapter to be underwhelming but in the anime it became one of my favorites. Episode 11 of Animation wasnt in the manga at all and it's one of my all time favorite episode and made me fall in love with Aria to begin with. Same with the episode where Woody and Akari visit the graveyard. The anime does a lot more with the mystical aspects of the world than the manga does and it makes the setting feel much more alive and whimsical.

To me, it just makes them seem less alive. Neo-Venezia is a big place though, it makes sense that they don't run into each other often. I love a bright, vibrant cast, but the spacing in their screentime makes it harder for me to get attached to them. Even Aika and Alice don't even appear in some episodes, which ruin the group dynamics that I tend to crave for.

I don't agree, most of the K-On episodes felt empty to me, it kind of dragged on into the second season. I didn't totally dislike it but I could not connect with it on the same level I did with Aria and some of my other favorite SOLs.

I didn't think it was that overused, most of what made the characters interesting in Aria for me is how much they grew as people over the the series, Aiki becoming her own person, Akari appreciating the world to its fullest, and Alice moving past her introverted tendencies and making friends. Also Akari is the perfect vessel for appreciating the world. The way she finds beauty in everything just gets to me.

I think the show is actually is fairly balanced when it comes to Alice and Aika, it's nice to have some episodes where Akari is just hanging out with Alicia or some of the other people around town to freshen things up. If I recall correctly Alice and Aika had much less screen time in the manga though, Alice wasn't even introduced until much later which is a shame because shes one of my favorite characters.

I disagree here, I think the music in the anime does the supernatural stuff the justice it deserves, the animation quality itself isn't perfect but the direction choices such as the focus on the toy windmills in some of the Cait Sith episodes is phenomenal. Well K-On has a lot of subtly to it, especially compared to how blunt Aria tends to be with its dialogue. There's a lot of other little things such as group dynamics and top tier visuals that made K-On such a blast to watch.
As for the supernatural stuff, this may be based on preference, but I believe its best with good visuals, which the Aria anime really lacks. Music plays a big role, but it just isn't as impacting when its met with panning frames and an overall lack of animation. Personally it didn't convey that mysterious feeling that other anime such as Mushishi or Natsume conveyed with it's supernatural elements.

I think comparing it to something like Mushishi or Natsume is a little unfair, granted I only saw Natsume's first season. In Aria the supernatural elements are meant to take a back seat to the main story and world. It's more so a part of Aria where as its the core of the aforementioned shows. The point of the supernatural stuff is to show Akari growing up and coming to terms with adulthood. As a child she would see magic around the corner of every waterway but once Cait Sith left she became unable to see any of the supernatural stuff anymore. However, she still sees it through Ai chan as well as her fond memories. It's just another one of Aqua's many cycles continues on to the next generation just like the yukimushi and everything else we see throughout the series. There is a profound melancholy attached to it and it feels like much of the individual themes and concepts presented in every episode intertwine perfectly. I agree that Aria can be blunt at times but there is certainly a lot hiding beneath the surface and more often than not it shows you something rather than just telling you directly, especially when it comes to its most central themes.
In terms of K-On's dynamics, I watched it after having seen many other slice of life anime and I felt like I've seen much of it before. For instance Mugi being a rich girl among a bunch of normal girls, Ritsu being genki, Yui being a clumsy and naive... I agree that the visuals looked great but they didn't have any emotional weight attached to them for me.
Also animation quality alone isn't all there is to the visuals in a show, the Aria anime had some strong direction especially when it came to the supernatural scenes.

I liked the music and the chill atmosphere with characters just wandering around town and the forest, looking at bugs and stuff. The music alone sometimes gives me powerful mono no aware in certain scenes.
Characters also just clicked with me better than any other SoL I've seen, I love their designs and I find all their quirks really amusing. And I like that it focuses on a large cast of characters in the club, not just 3-4 main girls, and it conveys a warm sense of community between them.
I know people get mad at "comfy" sometimes for being a memeword, but Sketchbook is perfectly comfy for me, along with YKK. I want to live in those worlds
