The dub is pretty good, but Ninja Slayer himself is weak. As a simple fix, just put his Sub voice over the Dub and it becomes truly amazing.

I think the direction and animation only complimented the show. It matches the over the top and somewhat comedic writing style and story. It even switched to some really good "serious" animation at some serious parts. Even the director said that he tried to get the feel of the novel and the novel being what it is i think he did a great job.
