Did you watch Detective Conan or something? Or all of Precure?
>>141871279
Yes
>>141871279
Imagine having "Sazae-san" on the backlog list
>>141872785
I don't think anyone's actually seen all of it though. If I recall correctly they didn't release vhs/dvd/bd for it because the author didn't want that, so you have to watch it as it live airs. There are thousands of episodes. I wonder if they've pretty much recycled some verbatim 3+ decades later hoping no one noticed and even if they did, they probably can't prove it.
>decide to download a bunch of backlogged series to start clearing it off
>5 unwatched series sitting on hdd for a year

>just 5
Do you mean you intended to watch 5 backlog shows and failed for a year? Because many people have hundreds if not 1000+ shows archived.

Instead of watching the 5 shows I downloaded, I ended up watching 30 other ones.
>pick up a show
>watch it to the end and clear it
>add another show
>rinse and repeat
Other than current running anime, I only watch 2 series at a time maximum. Much easier to manage.
>have 12 shows on my backlog
>rewatch something else instead
>start watching a 50 episode show
>tell myself I'll only watch 13 episode shows along with it because I only watch one episode of each show a day
>end up picking up another 50 episode show, and all the other shows are 26 episodes
I'm really bad at this whole variety thing.
>have no fixed backlog
>just randomly watch shows

The solution is easy, don't clear your backlog in the first place

I tend to just do a multi-day marathon for bigger shows. If it's a rather long series (like LoGH or Urusei Yatsura) I'll watch a bunch of eps, take a break watching seasonal stuff etc, then get back to it later.
Technically it's possible to finish a 26 ep show in a day hence a 50 ep show in a weekend, but it's really fucking draining and you likely won't enjoy it as much that way. People just don't typically have it in them to sit still for too long; hence movies at theatres go 1.5-3 hours. You can marathon a 1-cour in like 4-5 hours with a break or two so basically it's like watching two movies back to back.. kind of the limit for most people before they wanna do something else.
I've come to accept that I will never finish my backlog.

I would imagine. American newspaper and cape comics recycle stories from decades past sometimes.
