He's good. I don't think he's the ebst of the best but I like the Lovecraft inspiration. Stuff like I am a hero never really scared me but his Ito's work terrifies me.

Kagou is good in his own right, one of my favourite artists too, but sometimes he gets too caught up in making his stuff as incomprehensible and artsy as possible, and his fixation on women and eroticism, while understandable, kind of makes some of his works more gory fetish porn than horror. Ito's insistance on staying grounded in reality at first, then unleashing the madness while still sticking to some fucked-up inner logic, as well as his lack of sexual imagery (which is way too frequent in psychological horror because Freud) is part of what makes him my favourite mangaka, ever. It all boils down to personal taste, though; I can see why other people might prefer Kagou or Maruo, and they are absolutely right.
No one does black comedy better than Kagou, though. His Notebook of Murder and Killing was a wild ride if I ever had one.

People who desperately try to make themselves interesting to others are usually the most deficient of any actual substantial ideas.
His brand of humor is weird and while reading I can't even discern all of the time whether something was intentional or not.
I like it a lot. His stuff gets more laughs out of me than it creeps me, but he handles that certain brand of humor-from-sickening-things well.
