>The Endless Battle
The Superhuman Bureau is tasked with the mission to find Master Sergeant Jonathan Morrell, a soldier who escaped from the US Yokota Air Base. The superhuman soldier had his abilities artificially enhanced, and his heart was deeply scarred after being dispatched to the long, drawn out war in Southeast Asia. Jiro does not agree to the army's inhumane ways and teams up with Raito to try and return Jonathan to his home in the US. Meanwhile, Col. Carloco is in Japan with this troops. He is a comrade of Magotake when it comes to the matter of using superhumans in the army, and he starts to reveal the horrifying ambition of the US.

This is it. This is the much-awaited episode by vaunted Gen Urobuchi.

Let us all see what he has in store for us.

Also, episode 21 will go towards the year Shinka 49 (1974), when the oil crisis hit Japan and the rest of the world during the Yom Kippur war.
Japan will import American War Robots to further increase their control over their rogue superhuman population.

International events are awaiting us.

Perhaps we shall see new variants of the biodestroyer robot.

>March in Shinka 43 (1968), Vietnam
G.I. Joe fights against vietnamese peasants using rakshasa tiger masks to turn into tigermen. But Johnny can't take the horror of the war.
>July in Shinka 49 (1974), Yokota Airbase
Johnny runs away, cause he knows what will happen to broken arrows (they get discarded like the space kaijuus), and Jirou and Raito shelter him. Jirou wants to get him back home, but Colonel Carloco knows how to bring back Johnny-boy home the way it is meant to be. With honor. The Colonel asks the Superhuman Bureau to help him, since he knows Magotake, who did work in the Ikuta Imperial Labs. The cyborg programm of the Imperial Japanese Army is the basis of the US Army's Jungle Operations Enforcer elite squad.
Fuurouta contacts Kikko and brings her to Jirou, who tries to urge her to not allow the Bureau to get involved in this affair. Emi overhears the meeting and tracks down Jirou's hiding place with her fox spirit.
Johnny is however very unstable. Being heavily cybernetically modified and having killed lots of civilians, vietcongs and nonhumans, he freaks out at whatever religious icon that shows nonhuman beings.
The J.O.E.s get to their location through the help of the Bureau, but are being tricked by crafty Emi into attacking the wrong door, allowing Jirou and Johnny to flee.
However, it's still the US Army against two fugitives. So the J.O.E.s corner the two, and Johnny starts murdering his comrades, taking their parts to become a death machine and kills random civilians. He is made an hero.
Then, Carloco tries to capture Jirou for Master Ultima, but the Bureau allows him to flee, telling the J.O.E.s that they got Johnny and should piss off. Johnny returns home as a hero, his murderous rampage is blamed on the vietnamese inhuman being, Jirou promises to continue trying to fight for justice, freedom and peace, and the TRUTH, and help prevent the tragic outcome like Johnny.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

GO J.O.E.

Sure. Old people like the Eternal Family reminisced how terrible it was and how the older generations in ConRevo-Japan don't want a new war. The corrupt premier minister who was the descendant of great war heroine Iron Masked Fencer also wanted to eliminate war.
The youth of ConRevo-Japan are fighting against war.

But in a twist of irony, the common desire for a world without wars is one that is fought as a war between conflicting ideologies of different generations.

>>
The concept of older lands being alive, while the more civilized parts of the world are actually dead, is always interesting.
>>
>>141768984

Next episode is going to be Jaguar-centric if it centers on a Bureau member at all, yeah?

It's basically saying "modernity" and modernization theory destroyed the old ways and old culture. If you have read his F/Z LN, you know that Butcher really didn't approve of Japan's attempt at modernity that he thought sacrificed the old ways for the new.

Of course he is wrong here imo. Japan has been able to balance the old with the new moreso than many of these other countries that tried the same tactics.

The plot thread is about Master Ultima wanting Jiro's nuclear potential to solve the worldwide energy crisis.

Looks like the appliance of nuclear energy wasn't invented in the ConRevo-world as a result of no Hiroshima or Nagasaki going up in flames.

>>
>>141769608
I don't think so. They are not expropriating japanese land and turning japan into a settler colony. Rather they are selling the idea of modernization, which corresponds to Westernization or Americanization to Western/American ideals in this case (which also includes genocide).

Perhaps nevermore.
Or perhaps in the finale.
Since Kikko, the witch of Tokyo is quite thematically based on Sally the Witch, let us see what fate would have in store if Hoshinoko would follow in the footsteps of her inspiration.
>In the final episode, Sally's grandma informs her she must return to the Magic Kingdom. Before leaving, Sally tries to tell her friends about her origins, but no one will believe her. Then her elementary school catches on fire, and Sally uses her magic to put it out. Her powers thus exposed, Sally's time to leave has finally come. She waves farewell to her friends, and returns to the Magic Kingdom.
>Being so popular in Japan, mostly the same way as classic Hanna-Barbera characters are in America, a second series was produced 20 years later. The second series continues a few years after the original ending, and finishes with the Original video animation Sally the Witch: Mother's Love is Eternal, in which, at the end, Sally finally becomes the ruler Queen of the Magic Kingdom, but worries about leaving her friends behind.
I highly doubt that this is going to get an OVA for Kikko where she becomes true ruler of the magic world, though.

At this point it's just a very obvious lie since he actually uses his powers.

>>141771705
As long as he feels that he cannot save superhumans and give them rights and freedom and make them live a good life, he does not believe that he has the right to call himself a true superhuman, despite having a nuclear dragonpunch and piloting a transforming car that only listens to him.

Keep in mind that his idol and inspiration was the great Rainbow Knight, who turned out to be just a dude with two guns, a grappling hook and a bike. He wasn't even Batman. He was just a dude in a costume.

Jirou feels that he's not even half as awesome as that dude, so he won't call himself a superhuman yet.

How much you want to bet that this is powered unwillingly by a superhuman? They mentioned the submarine by name this episode, so it feels like foreshadowing to me.

>>141771705
All humans hold the potential within them to have powers, which is the secret of Rainbow Knight that Akita and the Professor kept. Thus, "superhumans" are actually just humans, and so Jiro calls himself human but calls people who choose to use their powers in a way that comports with his ideal of a hero of justice superhuman.

Arcus drained the energy of its superhuman host. REX-FE requires Daitetsu's metalbending powers enhanced by the superhelmet, and is still rather clumsy. The American transformation tank in this episode requires cyborg soldiers who willingly cut off their arms and legs so that they can interchange weapons and fuse with the armor.

Equus so far seems to be Jaguar's masterpiece, customfitted for Jiro, who probably can power it indefinitely because he generates unlimited electricity thanks to the sealed kaijuu inside his left arm.
Your typical superprototype.
