I like their chara designs and general quality but I wish they would do something unexpected or wild. They are kinda starting to feel Disney like on how safe their anime are.

This is the stupidest claim ever. Hibike is the kind of anime that isn't in anybody's comfort show, and they did it. Business model-wise, they are way out of the standard studio's comfort zone and are basically independent, they lead their committees and this is a big risk for a relatively small company like KyoAni. They stopped adapting stuff from Kadokawa, who got them cash for years, and started investing in their own titles and basically ditched Kadokawa's funding.
If by "doesn't leave their comfort zone" you mean "doesn't make edgy anime like I want" then maybe you're right, but saying they don't try to go to uncharted territories is a plain lie.
I don't mean to start a studio war (so don't reply to this part), but I'll give you an example of a studio that doesn't leave their comfort zone: shaft. They live off Aniplex's money and they have been riding the monogatari cash cow for years now, and now every one of the shows they release have been trying to imitate its style because it worked for them and they think that's what people liked so they'll go out of their ways to ruin their other adaptions with that style.
"Kyouko-san, fly, high", "Kono hoshisora ni wa kimi ga tarinai!", and "夜多の森弓道場" anime when?

Well, why can't they try to make something besides romance or breezy SOL and stick with that genre through the show's run? And no, it doesn't count if they pull a Kyoukai and turn into romance halfway through. Even defenders of that show admit, "no it isn't a Monogatari mimic; it's actually about the romance between Mirai and Akky; the reason you're disappointed is because you're a pleb for wanting it to be anything else". If they're really so innovative, why don't they make the first legit successful horror anime?

This plus the cynical female MC,her special snowflake relationship with Reina, and a no-nonsense sensei made it a very unique and fun experience. There isn't much to complain about unless you're overly concerned about settings.
