It's one of my favorite anime of all time, especially because of the last few episodes. As cheesy as it gets, it makes me feel warm inside.
Sasahara's dumb little "Every day is a series of miracles" comes off as a joke, but it speaks to the series pretty well. I always remember it when watching Nichijou.

I sat in awkward silence throughout the whole elevator scene not finding it in the least bit funny.
After the strawberry shortcake scene I couldn't keep a straight face for hours afterwards. Still can't watch it without laughing.

Its grasp and understanding of comedy is very unique with things like ironic contrast and anti-jokes. I enjoyed it for the sheer audacity it has compared to other gag anime

I started it recently and I like it, it's consistently low key amusing and I smile the whole time I watch it. I don't think it's a particularly hilarious comedy though, there aren't many laugh out loud moments (so far, I'm only 7 episodes in so my opinion might change).

Aizawa Mai (Mio) almost quit around 2007 (after doing only some pretty minor roles like in Negima and Lucky Star), but ended up continuing because the web radio she took as her last job happened to extend indefinitely thanks to Sugita and Endou Masaaki's popularity. Then Nichijou and Mirai Nikki happened and for a short while she was actually popular.

It's a masterpiece.
The pacing, the humor, the artstyle are on the same level, at the same tone. It's probably one of the most coherent piece of anime I've ever seen.
It's not for everyone, but the quality here is astonishingly high for an anime, can't say the same about half the cash-in pandering generic animes /a/ praises every day.
