I loved STEM until I went to UoW. Waterloo made me hate it.
It wasn't because of the complexity either. I had studied up to the end of second year level. It was the overly structured nature of the courses and the bland, boring programs/projects that killed every last little bit of passion I had for CS/engineering. I went from adoring the material to detesting every moment I was there, even when it was covering material I already knew.
My highschool had a flexible CS/engineering program that was very self-focused and, well, flexible and overtly challenging. Make improvements to the logic of the program that goes outside of the parameters? A-OK, so long as they're entirely justifiable. At UoW? Not until 3rd-4th year because everything uses Marmoset and they checked everything, even if you had all the functions they want they would even check to see if the structure of the program was exactly as dictated.
By 3rd year, all my passion was gone and it was impossible to rekindle my love for the material, and I dropped out because there was no point in doing something that I hated every minute of. Now I'm a NEET with no passion for anything except moe. The sad bit is that I used to be a really passionate person.

Although you have to realize that these evaluations does not only test you on your knowledge regarding the field but also puts into consideration the skills that you need when you actually get to work. Clients will just reject your project if you didn't do them the way they requested. Plus, if you found the material boring then why did you not just start on side projects yourself? Self learning is the best way to discover things after all, especially in a field like Computer Science.
Either way, I'm pretty sure there is not a single field that you can find where you'll like all the content.

You should probably lower your standards, not that you're not worth it, but because you're likely writing off things face value that are more worth your time than you think.
I'm not a grill, but I was once a middle school teacher and taught high school in the summers. Teachers are different from normal people, for lack of a better word: we're crazy. Who else wants to spend all day with someone else's kids, running your classroom all the while the administration can come in and tell you how they want it run but they're never in there themselves? Also, dealing with parents.
You shouldn't 'need' to be with someone to be happy, but it is undeniable that it is something most of us desire, even if only in brief spurts.
You're tied up in your career and it is hard to meet people who are like minded being a teacher because you're not around other adults all day, but kids. Most people don't realize that as a teacher most days go without adult interaction, and that is straining on the teacher.
This is going to come out like a pasta, but you should get out and do something that you enjoy that is solely for you. This may not bring you closer to love, but it may help you reunite with the part of you who isn't stuck in the grinding loop that is the school year.
Definitely don't become the 'Drunk party girl' teacher either. Love yourself and then reach out and dare to let others. this means you aren't spending 2-3 hours after school each day doing extra work (that you don't have to) so that you don't look bad to the other teachers, let your test scores do the talking.
I wish I had better advice, but don't desperately cling to the first guy who shows interest and you can feel submissive to.
