Pick a request and just do it, sketch it out roughly and quickly before you lose steam. Then pick your favorite/most interesting part of the picture and do that first. Sometimes I get bored after that or sometimes I get motivated to finish the rest of the picture.
Also, I leave a livestream/speedpaint on and look at it when I feel things are looking crappy because seeing how slowly they work makes me feel like it's alright that I'm taking forever/that it looks so rough. It's easy to forget how much time and effort drawing takes if you only look at the finished product.

I know it sounds weird but there's just things about the way the helmet's drawn that feels just right -- the way her hair is resting against it, the size is just big enough to fit her head but barely cramps it, the screen effect shows it has more presence. Personally, I'd have preferred her in her regular outfit, my reason for the Luluco reference was more to show the ponytail sticking out the helmet bit and less of the Space Patrol uniform. Basically those 2 have requesters in the waifu threads and get a lot of hate on a regular basis. Having them requested doing weird and sick shit is fairly common place because people hate the requesters.
You're better off not requesting it on /a/ because that drama is deeply rooted even in the general thread.
Its just more likely to get drawn on /u/ in general anyways.
