Far from it, the show has gotten much better animation and visuals overall compared to any of the prior seasons. In both CG and the standard animation. And yes, the characters age real time up until the recent season. Mimi was 13 in the original series of Duel Masters and in the latest season, Duel Masters Versus Revolution Final, airing this season, they haven't mentioned her age, but she was 26 in the last season of the animu, putting her at 27 for the new season since it takes place about a year after the previous. There aren't many returning characters though, just Mimi, Shobu, Benny and Shobu's Mother. His younger brother, Katta is the MC.
