If he doesn't then Damo's fun time home invasion won't have any real emotional weight behind it. It feels like an important turning point in the story and it needs some kind of gravity to it to really seal the deal and make it feel important, not just another fight except this time we got a super important flashback to go with it. Depending on how Araki goes with it this could easily be one of the best story arcs in the series, in Part 8 itself no doubt. I like Norisuke but he's gonna BtD any day now.

Sorry I misread your post and didn't realise you had read JJL. Sort of, since Love Train was what Valentine wanted but Love Train only occurs when D4C and Ticket to Ride are close together. With Valentine getting infinty'd there's no more D4C and therefore no more Love Train, so the U.S. Government can give people Stands with the Corpse whenever they want but without D4C they'd need to find another way to redirect misfortune outside of America. So Valentine only half won since America can make Stand users whenever they want but they don't have a magical ring surrounding them that redirects anything bad out to someone else in the world which was the whole point of Valentine wanting it in the first place.

The anime for Stardust Crusaders isn't as good as the manga version so coming off Battle Tendency which is way better in the anime it's kind of a drag at first but slowly picks up towards the second half which has just as many hype and wtf moments as Battle Tendency. Only issue is it's 48 fucking episodes. Everything after Stardust Crusaders blows the first three parts out of the water though.

Basically before Giorno even showed up fate had decided that Buccellati, Abbachio and Narancia were going to die. Mista saw this and told Buccellati but Buccellati wasn't convinced. Rolling Stones shows them how they're fated to die but not how they got there, meaning that if you know your death is coming and unavoidable you can try and do something good with the time you have left. Rolling Stone's user's girlfriend saw her death and decided to make up with her estranged family so she could die on good terms. It gives them the opportunity to make things better and say goodbye before you die. So Buccellati didn't believe it but then during the first appearance of King Crimson he was killed but Giorno gave life to his corpse before his soul fully left, making him essentially a soul trapped inside a rotting corpse. Buccellati realised that Rolling Stones was true and that thanks to Giorno he had a second chance since he was meant to die back there. This is why after those chapters he becomes way more of a hardass, he knew that Abbachio and Narancia didn't have much time left and he wanted them to finally do something good in their lives before dying, so he jumps straight to the end goal of killing Diavolo. The rest is fighting against fate to kill Diavolo and make something of himself before he dies properly. The main theme is fate and how it's inescapable so the best we can do is do our best with what we've got, and even if we don't make it we'll be remembered after we die by the survivors. It cuts back to Mista reflecting on this as he's finally figured out what it all meant and that his place is by Giorno's side.
And as a side note, Diavolo didn't embrace fate he ran away from it and his reward is that no one alive remembers him and ultimately his actions led to nothing unlike the sacrifices of Buccellati and co.
Basically it was to drive the main theme home since it was kind of vague even in the original Japanese.

They stuck too closely to the manga so at points it's a slog since what works in one medium doesn't always in another. Plus the stills were really detailed but the actual animation was stilted. And they fucked up with the pacing and budget so much that they had to cram all 18 chapters of DIO's World plus the epilogue into 4 episodes with the cheapest looking animation out of the whole series up to that point. This is after they spent 3 episodes on Vanilla Ice which was 8 chapters and had OUTSTANDING animation. It's not bad or anything just not as good as the manga.

Which is funny, because this is part of what he wanted. He wanted to be this mysterious nebulous entity that no one would really know. He basically wanted to be God. Which, given his name as the Devil is appropriate. The devil fights against his own fate, trying to usurp God's throne. Diavolo believes himself to be outside of the bounds of fate, but reality came crashing down on him.
Now he will never have what he wanted, but will also never know the peace of death. I think only Kars had it worse.
