The smallest deviation would make the arrow bend as the string is pushing forward with a huge amount of force. This will break the arrow.
An arrow has a greater mass than a pellet, a greater inertia, and a much less stable center of gravity. The arrow will not be stable and will not reach the same velocity of as the pellet assuming that the steam engines have equal force output.
A smaller velocity and stability will make it not hit the intended area with the force that a pellet would have. A pellet would exert a much greater (force per unit area) pressure in the heart.
If a pellet can't penetrate. I don't see how an arrow could possibly achieve that.

That's not how bows work, m9, the potential energy is stored both in the string and the entire bow body, that's why mongols used layers of bull horn and tendons in their bows and why modern compound bows are made out of steel and carbon fiber.

Honestly was the point to have a quirky interesting action story where the main characters must come to survive in an apocalyptic world?
The fact is the execution is absolutely terrible.
It ended up boring and cringe worthy, where as the plot is contrived and forced through a poorly written plot device that evolves whenever it needs to.
Uninteresting poorly written one note archetypes clash with one another in the most obvious and generic ways possible for 20 minutes a week.
The art and animation isn't remotely consistent and it looks like shit 90% of the time. The art direction isn't anymore compelling on interesting that literally anything else.
The girls aren't even cute, like that's the easiest part.
The sad thing is there was so much desperate advertising of this shit it's almost sad, turns out it's by far the worst show this season, the shit didn't literally meet the expectations.
It's sad, but it's a pretty shit show.
