Personally, comparing Past Drama Episodes I can't say they surpassed any of them. Of course a lot of this went into developing Subaru and Yume more, or rather further solidifying Yume's inability to give a fuck about anything not S4.
Ako was also a brilliant addition. She didn't have much focus on her own introduction episode! I mean we learned plenty about her of course. The main problem is she's abusive childhood friend level Tsundere. Sure, it was a lot of impact, but it's going to be hard to keep that energy. Though Koharu was 100% accurate to call her extremely cute.
Ako's character is really interesting even though we barely spent any time with her.
The way she instantly became a one-sided rival with Yume over a relationship Yume seems to think nothing of is great. It gives her a lot of potential without having to do much with her now.
Her cattiness and slight clumsiness makes her a fun character as well.
There's a lot of room to develop her, but she can quite happily stay on the sidelines and just be comedy relief.
Best character yet. Although Koharu might beat her when she drops her glasses and goes hyper-mode.
Stars continues to draw our attention in unexpected ways.
They do the same things as the Original Aikatsu, in fact what we're seeing is most certainly Aikatsu, but then they shake it up.
Consider Original Aikatsu, After Shion-tan in Wonderland, each and every one of us had an expectation of a Drama Episode. It usually would be extremely good, with the characters going a bit crazyLike Swordfights all over campus!There was certainly an expectation of quality and you could tell the whole staff loved those episodes!
Here, they very very much maintained that level of quality! BUT it was a Drama episode only for S4. The point of view we were exposed to did intersect with the Drama a bit, but not completely.
I'm starting to feel like, what we're looking at is S3 Akari after she got accepted into Starlight until she took the reigns. Sure, she was there, and growing, but her story wasn't where we were at the time. Her first term probably involved learning the ropes just like Yume and her pals are learning now It's like a tale of two shows. Our Familiar Aikatsu is played by the S4, but growing into those Idle Activities is Yume and her friends showing us a whole different point of view.
I wonder what the parents think, seeing the girls they sent off to idol school finally show up in a drama... only to see they've been cast as abusive bitches turning down leaflets.

And it's finally over. Damn, that was a nice end for a great series. Despite some weaker spells, like the start of s2 and s3, I never grew bored of it. Even s4 has many episodes and characters I really love.

I'd love it if the entire series goes by with Yume completely not caring about Subaru, and saying how much better S4 is whenever M4 is brought, with Ako doing cute jealous catgirl things in the background whenever they're interacting.
That said, I like Subaru a lot more than I was expecting, although that might be partly because Yume doesn't become a blushing mess whenever they have some small interaction.
