Sort of. Araki knows how absurd and over the top it is, and David plays it up pretty hard in the adaptations of the first two parts. They start dialing the silly down a bit steadily throughout Stardust Crusaders, and so does Araki- he tries to start writing a semi-serious battle shonen with some comedy around the start of the Egypt arc of part 3, and continues this trend all the way through to early/mid part 6, where he swerves really fast and deep into Seinen territory. Seriously, I've never seen a Shonen Jump manga with as much body horror as part 6, it's insane.

So I put off reading part 6 for ages since I got myself spoiled on it, but when I finally got to it I found the first half to be great but the second half just kind of happened and then "ok part 6 is over I guess" was my reaction. I'd like to say it was just because I knew how the ending went, but I was just wondering if anyone who ready it blind felt the same way. I mean I liked a lot of the early stand fights, but once pucci got into more fights it seemed like "pucci is here time for another character to die".
it also felt like the art took a dive towards the end but then again maybe I was just checked out.

It's a fusion of comedy and actual serious shit. It's like a halfway point between something like Naruto that takes itself seriously and OPM which is just parody, but imo far better than both of those series. A lot of hardcore shit happens throughout the series but Araki never takes it too seriously and it's always got a level of irony and ridiculous to it that doesn't subtract from the seriousness but enhances it. It's pretty unique in that regard.
Essentially it's just a well balanced mix of everything, and rather than just coexisting all the disparate elements enhance one another. The comedy makes the story better and the sincerity yet also tongue-in-cheek style of the story makes the comedy better too.

Dunno if Giorno would have let him get back in contact with the guy who sent a magic dwarf after him to steal his DNA, so I imagine Polnareff just had to make do. I don't think he ever found out that Giorno was DIO's son either, and trying to contact the guy who called Giorno's dad might be risky.
In PHF I think it's implied that SPW and Passione formed an uneasy alliance mostly to keep them off each other's backs but Giorno calls in a favour to have a whole stadium shut down on the day if the biggest game of the year just to talk to Fugo there, so they're on good enough terms to call on massive favours like that. Plus SPW specifically forbid Giorno from going to Ortygia since they had Intel on a Stone Mask being there and wanted to ensure he never developed any vampire traits. So I imagine they informed him of his heritage and about who Jotaro was, so if you treat PHF as canon then yeah Polnareff is pretty much confirmed to have at least spoken to Jotaro after becoming second in command of Passione.
