I liked it a lot, and at some later point I wound up asking about or mentioning the movie on IRC and someone had it and sent it to me. That was the first time I saw anime.
But I didn't know what "anime" was. It wasn't on TV like in many other countries, and I somehow managed to never hear about it, or maybe I just didn't pay attention to it. At the time I had an interest in Japanese and other Asian cinema (and Jdramas a bit later), so Jin-Roh was just a Japanese movie to me. I watched anime sporadically for many years without being conscious of it being "anime," and without having any specific interest in it beyond the fact that it was Japanese. As far as I can remember.
Over time I got more aware of what I was watching and started getting interested in anime specifically, but I don't remember when that was. I watched K-On some time after it had aired (it may have been a BD rip even), and I remember being puzzled by the way the eyes and mouths were sometimes drawn, so I haven't been an active watcher for very long. I bought my first figure in 2013.
It was great watching anime without any pre-conceptions and memes and shitty communities telling me what to think. Nowadays a lot of people don't even watch anime, they just regurgitate other people's opinions on it, and those people probably don't watch it either. The Human Centipede was a metaphor for the anime community all along.
