The problem is that is not funny enough to keep you entertained and it's way too slow to be relaxing/healing to the point of being plain boring. It doesn't help that it has a supernatural premise and barely anything supernatural happens so it feels like a disappointment.

No, the show's pace is pretty good for iyashikei. There's not enough SoLs that know how to take it easy like this. I think most people just prefer or are more used to comedies than to shows like this.

You can take it easy and manage to be entertaining, tell a short story or try to develop the characters. Aria is the prime example of this but you still have other pretty good examples in, say, NNB or Tamayura (shows that also handle the countryside way, way better than this).
