You can't just expect someone to be nice to you just because you're unhappy. Being understanding is good, but if you visit harm on others they have every right to respond in kind. You do not have a right to kindness. Expecting others to take your situation into consideration even as you fail to do so for them is lunacy. There is exactly one person each of us is in control of, and that is ourselves. If you behave poorly towards others, you have no right whatsoever to complain when they respond in an appropriate manner. Truth is, there are quite a few people in most people's life that DO care about how you feel. Even if that less empaty towards men thing is true, that doesn't mean you have to be less empathetic. I understand that not everyone is kind and sympathetic, and not everyone does everything with the best intentions, but I believe that you shouldn't respond with hatred in return. You need thick skin to survive but you can't steel plate your heart either or else you'll end up just as cold as the people who made you thicken your skin in the first place.
What I want to advocate here is basic human kindness and decency. I don't think hoping for kindness should be a wrong thing, and I know that's not the world we live in, but maybe if more people were kind to each other it'd be easier for everyone to open their hearts. I can't articulate it 100% at the moment but basically it's a strategy not to get hurt. Insteade of being vulnerable, which means dealing with uncertainty in relationships, people choose to numb themselves by going all out in showcasing their flows.
Going for it even though there is a possibility of failure is courageous and attractive. Saying all your insecurities so that there will be no possibility of unknown is a weak move and unattracitve.
