I'm mostly going off of what Wikipedia has written down for average height in the US where female height ranges in average from 5'4 to 5'5 depending on age and race. So Jupiter still manages to skirt by, possibly even more impressive if you take into account that the above starts measurement at age 20.

Jap Luna is just kind of there. There's nothing wrong with her, but she doesn't stand out in any way and just functions as a generic mascot character. DiC Luna, her mentor role and her banter with Serena basically makes the dub what it is. The episode where the fat cat wants her is just delightfully weird like this.

I recently finished SuperS and I'm pretty sure I only found a SINGLE episode of it fantastic (the one where the Trio gets defeated, but granted humanity as well).
It doesn't disappoint in the screenshot department though. Got my fair share of those just like all the previous seasons.

Granted I've only seen the American run of Sailor Moon (and not in it's entirety), and I am currently making my way through the ViZ re-dub at Episode 8 of Season 1, please hear me out:
How/Why does Luna even know about Sailor Moon? I mean, she's looking for the Moon Princess and knows that the princess has Guardians (specifically Mercury, Mars, Venus and Jupiter)... are you telling me that before the Fall of the Silver Empire (honestly forget what it's called), there was actually a Sailor Moon who was considered one of the Princess' guardians? If so, how now is Usagi both Sailor Moon and the Moon Princess? Shouldn't Luna have known? Was Sailor Moon just always the Moon Princess and Luna was just unaware (similar to comic characters just not seeing the Clark Kent/Superman identity because story dictates)?

Anime didn't explain it, but in the manga, Sailor Moon didn't exactly exist before the fall of the silver millenium.
Serenity became sailor moon in the present day because she had a longing to be able to protect the people that she loved, instead of being a helpless damsel in distress.Serenity kills herself after watching Mamoru die in the manga instead of in the anime where they both die at the same time
Basically it's a plothole that was in the anime but never in the manga.
In the manga, Luna didn't have any clear memories of her past in the Moon Kingdom, and
Atemis and Minako knew that Usagi was Sailor Moon, so we're just to assume that when Luna went to the command center Artemis gave her tips about who Usagi/Sailor Moon was, and due to the whole bandaid on her crescent moon incident, had a bit of trouble trying to find her.
It's confusing, but that is a good question, and good insight into how much the manga and the anime are different from each other.

I'm a bit unsure as to what Luna actually remembers, so your manga reference makes sense. She had to be told that there was something funny about Ami in the beginning of Episode 8 and she clearly didn't recognize who she was until she saw the Mercury Symbol flash on Ami's forehead.
So in the end, the Moon Princess's dying wish is granted (to become a protector) and so gains the power/right to transform into Sailor Moon.
So what/who gave her the power? The silver crystal just knew/wanted/chose to grant her that power?

I think it was Stars. Basically, the strongest Sailor Senshi ever got corrupted by some dark forces and started the entire war between the Senshi and the "Agents of Chaos" to satisfy her own needs and lust for violence. When it finally looked liked the Senshi were going to eradicate Chaos entirely, she kills the three other new characters introduced(All guys posing as Senshi)and turns the world into cold, cold crystal (A throwback to ending arcof the first series, actually).
It's been too long since I've seen the whole series, but the whole thing played out like it was trying to be Evangellion or something.
