The author doesn't even try to figure out what would happen in his scenario.
For example, mages could easily have been hired to ruin the Japanese's defenses. But that is only a minor item that still plays within the rules.
In reality, what would have happened is that the weaponry would have been blurred much more directly. Any Japanese soldier that dies would get his guns stolen. Plenty of soldiers would sell their weapons (and the knowledge of their handling) at huge prices to the locals.
The Japanese soldiers in turn would start wearing armor, because the reason for the dismissal of armor (the more efficient weaponry of the enemy) is no longer in effect.
But even these things are only minor. There's a lot of things that could and would change, and he addresses NONE of them. He's just having fun parading around his boner for the military and cute girls.

One of the reasons why people hate this series is that the political villains are all sandbags and strawmen. To that I say, Gate is a lighthearted adventure anime in the first place, it's not Black Lagoon. See that's the thing. They tried the good cop role by supplying weapons. They didn't get entry. So they tried bad cop role, and it still didn't work because Rory. A unit with at least 5 paratrooper companies is typically part of a patrooper regiment, and paratrooper regiments cannot opperate by themsevles unless embbed to something the size of a division or even brigade. If that were the case, the current sanctions wouldn't be having nearly the (prehaps limited) effect they are on Russia. In short, cutting off access to foreign markets for your finished goods is at least as important as cutting off materials, though there are other factors beyond those two that need to be considered. Because comparative advantage is bizarre like that.
Doubly so in the case of a country like Japan, which isn't and economy dominated my manufacturing.
