Kawajiri is one of my favourite directors, recently rewatched the Birdy OVAs the other day. I also realy like Takeshi Koike and it was only until recently I learnt he was Kawajiri's understudy, makes sense now that I think about it.

It's a legitimately good series. Not great, but very good.
And it really deserves some actual recognition.The dub is actually pretty good, too, if still a bit trashy.
