That is the point as the Aesop of the show is revenge is empty. If she live she may need to kill Shichika anyway due to her objective. When she die she is happy because she don't need to go through with choosing between him and her objective. Also her objective of destroying Shogunate ironically accomplished post-mortem by her rival anyway.
