I don't think Nozomi is as bad a character as people portray her. She's definitely outgoing in that even though she never really had any friends shes able to put herself in other peoples shoes and relate to their problems, showing that even as a loner she doesn't close herself out to human interaction like so many cliche archetypes in anime.
I honestly think she has a lot of good characterization throughout the series and some good development.
