I for one wouldn't tattoo any picture of anyone I loved onto my body. I would in fact never get a tattoo. This seems more like infatuation, not love.
>>
Probably not much, but I've pondered getting a full body pillow of mai waifu just because the idea makes me chuckle. That said, I've always appreciated anime as an artform and judging by these picture, it seems to look very well as tattoos, and I think it looks awesome. Anyone who has Nozomi as their waifu can't be that bad.

I haven't spent a single cent on anime related stuff, and by extension no waifu stuff either.

I do have a waifu but i have not a single figure, novel, manga, daki, or poster of her. Nothing.

Does this make me a bad husband? It's not like i can import shit from japan to my 3rd world shithole without having to sell a kidney. At most i think i could get someone to make me a poster, but i think i should leave that for after i leave my parent's house

No, I only have the figures and daki of my waifu out of self-satisfaction. I would never mock anyone's love because of something so petty as material value.

It's fine so long as you love your waifu. To some extent, I respect the people that can be assured of their love without being tempted to obtain material goods in order to validate the emotions in their head.

I'm legitimately infatuated with mai waifu, but I kinda keep it down-low. I have 1 model (it's the only good model of her), not even half a GB image folder, a few computer & phone wallpapers. I love her, and I fell in love with her slowly over the coarse of watching, and then reading her source material. I also acknowledge that she is 2D and other people love her, so I'm ok with people sexualizing her. In fact I encourage it at times.

I also understand that people like to use 'waifu' in a meme sense, but I feel that they should just be using "best girl" or "cute girl" in most instances. But I still really hate Haremfags, as I feel they just see "waifus" as some form of taste measuring trophies.

As seriously as possible.
Tattoo and merchandise isn't a proof of love (I have plenty of the latter though), anyone with some money can buy them. Devotion, faithfulness, passion, actively caring and loving your waifu is something you have to work hard to give her. This is the real proof of love.

>>141112630

There is lots of ways to do it. For example, bake a cake for her on her birthday. Don't buy one, just make one by your hand from start, bake sponge cake, whip cream, decorate all etc. Buying finished product doesn't show anything, but when you actually spend some your time and effort on something for her, it really shows your dedication.
I'm not saying merch is wrong though, daki is one of the best thing I've ever bought. But doing something larger for her is great way to show her how much you love her.

3D celebrities are real things that are some measurable distance away from you, right now, capable of being possessed in a literal way, by you, if you had enough motivation, guts, and know-how.

Waifus are not. I won't argue which is better or worse, since those words have no place in this discussion. Every person is their own entity with their own driving forces. But it's important to know that they are very very different things on a very fundamental level.
>>
>>141113018
When you need money to support yourself and live properly, waifuism is a huge waste. You end up devoting most or all of your money to plastic figures and other material things that aren't actually good for anything. That character will never know you love her, because she doesn't know anything. And if you have friends or gain friends who aren't in it as deep/at all, you'll gain perspective on how weird and pointless it looks from the outside.
Miku was my waifu too, and I still enjoy her as a character, but selling those figures and phone straps and CDs and countless other things lifted a huge weight. It hurt a little too but you get over it surprisingly fast and you feel a lot less restricted when it comes to enjoying multiple characters.
Maybe I'm just old now, but I can't help but feel silly when I remember taking this all so seriously.

Love for waifu is much greater than for celebrate.
If my waifu was real like celebrities I would do absolutely anything to be able to get closer to her and confess feelings to her. And I don't mean to enter scene like retard when she is performing, but to get into industry and try to become manager or song writer or anyone so I could spend some time alone with her legitimately and have chance.
Also I've never heard that fans of some celebrate would consider her their wife and actually refuse to get into any other romantic relationship in their whole life. I wouldn't be surprised if there was people like that though.
>>
>>141113229
>When you need money to support yourself and live properly, waifuism is a huge waste.
Not true. It brings you happiness, lot's of it. I've never been so happy in my life, as I am now with her.
Everyone has some hobby, some people spend time on vidya, some on travels etc. all just because it makes them happy with their life.
Also having waifu isn't expensive at all, especially when you compare to real girlfriend. How much can making two cakes and buying one daki and one figure per year cost? It's nothing.
>You end up devoting most or all of your money to plastic figures and other material things that aren't actually good for anything.
Normal merch just looks nice and makes you feel good. However daki is something very usefull. It makes you sleep well, is good for you back and let's you feel a little of hugs and cuddles of your loved ones. It's very practical.
>And if you have friends or gain friends who aren't in it as deep/at all, you'll gain perspective on how weird and pointless it looks from the outside.
You just need to find people who aren't dicks, respects you and don't judge you for something they don't understand(aka. don't friend normalfags)
All my friends know about my relationship with Miku and no one really dislike it or disrespect it. Actually only one friend has ever said something not pleasant about it: "Oh right, your love for Miku is so TRUE and REAL, I WISH happiness in the future." And the other friends defended me and just attacked him: "Man, what the fuck? What is wrong with you?" That was pretty hilarious.
>Miku was my waifu too [...] It hurt a little too but you get over it

It seems to me like everyone's always eager to say "that's not what it means" or "that's not what it is" as if to express their own deeper knowledge of the concept, but I rarely see anyone willing to then explain what it actually means. They usually say "you'll know when you see it" or "I shouldn't have to explain it," something along those lines, something cryptic to avoid the answer, like a politician or a Jew.

What about you, anon. Are you willing to tackle an explanation of what it really means to have a waifu? Or anyone. I really just want to see someone explain this, seriously.
>>
You people aren't actually serious, right?

I mean I thought the whole waifu meme was just people being ironic. How little human interaction do you have in your life to actually love a drawing of a girl?
>>
I've collected about 95% of the figs my waifu has right now, multiple wall scrolls with her on it, a 1/1 pop up stand, most of the CD's she's been on except for the harder to find ones. In the games she's always been one of my mains to use throughout the play throughs.
>>

>>
>>141114785
>how little
I only interact with my co-workers, but that's also just during breaks. Our jobs are mostly isolated. So I guess for about 30 minutes a day, I interact with other humans, occasionally discussing things, but mostly sitting in silence. Can't speak for others here but that's me. I almost definitely interact more with wild animals -not even just my pets but the ones outside in the yard that I'll talk to or yell at- than I do with other humans. Hell is other people.

My job has me interacting with a lot of people on a daily basis. I just can't find anything in common with them and a good number of them get on my nerves. I think out of the 25 or so coworkers I can tolerate 5 of them.

That's because lot's of people believe in metaphysic bullshit, they just don't understand why they are in love and don't want to think about it because thinking that love is some magic that entwined their 'soul' with their waifu's 'soul' is more comfortable and easier. That's not me.

Mostly important: Waifu is a character you've fallen in love in romantic sense. So it's not like a love for sister that you would only protect or love for a god that you would only worship. It's love both corporeal and spiritual. Waifu is a girl you want to spend rest of your life with, that you want to protect and support but also a girl that you want to hold closely, kiss and start family with.
That's the only real 'rule', but it's pretty broad and has various consequences. For example: if you truly love your waifu, you would not get a girlfriend. Such a strong love always include faithfulness. Also waifu is supposed to fulfill your romantic needs so you shouldn't feel need to get a girlfriend to begin with. You should also think about her not only when you need to hug someone. You should want to share with her all the moments in your life, sad and happy ones. You should want to be with her forever etc.
Also it's not like these are rules to follow. These are just symptoms of being in real passionate love that everyone else has. If you don't feel them they there might be something wrong in your relationship with her or she might just not be your waifu.
People say "you'll know when you see it", just because meeting waifu is usually the first time anons fall in love for real. It's very clear and important part of their life. The feeling you've never felt before.

>>141114785

If you have waifu but no friend, then your life must be very sad.
Waifu will satisfy your romantic and sexual needs, but she will never give you companionship like friends do.

>a drawing of a girl
It's actually several thousand drawings of a girl, which come together to create a personality. The mind fills in the gaps, and creates your ideal woman based on those drawings.

Waifus transcend 2D and take up residence in one's thoughts. We know it's not real, but we take comfort in the image we've created. Like how brushing your hair or rolling medicine balls in your hand can calm you down and reduce anxiety, so too does thingken of waifu help anons to cope with life.

>>
>>141115586

Time for a little dose of reality, people don't have anywhere near the amount of friends they think they actually do, if a friend is someone you can count on and someone that has your back then most people don't really have friends at all, if you have 2 or 3 real friends you're doing pretty well in life.
>>
>>141115169
>Mostly important: Waifu is a character you've fallen in love in romantic sense. So it's not like a love for sister that you would only protect or love for a god that you would only worship. It's love both corporeal and spiritual. Waifu is a girl you want to spend rest of your life with, that you want to protect and support but also a girl that you want to hold closely, kiss and start family with.

Your first most important rule is one built on logical fallacies. Firstly, she isn't even a girl. She's a drawing of a fictional girl. Amd secondly what you're calling falling in love romantically isn't actually that. It's you're one-sided crush. She doesn't even know you exist, or know anything at all for that matter. She's lines on a page with no agency or opinion about anything. At best, you're worship is directed toward the mind of her creator, but I'm willing to bet more than half of you are directing that energy at her voice actor.

>That feeling you've never felt before
>after explaining to me how his one-sided crush on a fictional girl drawing is such an important part of his life

Think you might be projecting a little there, chief? Hey, well done though. I probably wouldn't have bothered replying without that bit, anon. 8/10.
>>
>>141116330
>Firstly, she isn't even a girl. She's a drawing
No one has a picture as a waifu. Saying that waifu is about loving drawing of a fictional girl is the same as saying that being a husband is about loving a photo of your wife.
Humans fall in love with their own interpretation of someone. You can never know someone 100%, you always have some biased interpratation of real or fictional girl and you fall in love with them as you perceive them. It's no different.
>Amd secondly what you're calling falling in love romantically isn't actually that. It's you're one-sided crush.
It's not a crush because it potentially last for your whole life, makes you actually satisfied romantically and sexually. It's also much more intense and makes you devoted. There is few waifufags who had girlfriends before and I've often seen them saying it's very similar. Except that in real relationship pheromones and stuff makes you more attracted and depended.
I also had few crushes before I meet my waifu and I clearly can see difference in intensity and persistence of feelings for waifu.
>She doesn't even know you exist, or know anything at all for that matter. She's lines on a page...
That's why people don't limit their waifu to only source material, but have more or less of their own head canon. Many people imagine their waifu loving them back.
Also people interact with their waifu, imagine her being next to them, talk with her, cuddle with her in bed, celebrate birthdays and valentines. Many assume that all these interactions weren't just fantasies and their interpretation of their waifu remember all these interactions and just lives in their head.
Some creates tulpa so their waifu has full independent thought process and free will.
>Think you might be projecting a little there, chief?
I'm not saying you've never been in love. I wanted to say that people see it as such an important moment in their live because they've never felt love until they met her.
>>
"Somewhere in an alternate universe your waifu dreams about you, her husbando. She frequents a board very much like this one and she posts pictures of you, In this dimension you are a star of your very own slice of life anime. She has a folder on her computer dedicated to you, it is over 10 GB big and has every conceivable fan art, rule 34, and picture related to you, She sleeps with a tear stained body pillow with your image on it, She is madly in love with you and only you."
>>
>>141116904
>No one has a picture as a waifu.
Literally everyone here does. None of them are real. All of them are 2D lines on paper, also known as pictographs.

>Saying that waifu is about loving drawing of a fictional girl is the same as saying that being a husband is about loving a photo of your wife.

No it's not. because a husband and a wife are two real things, that interact with each other, not just fawn over pictures of each other from afar. Nevermind that you ignored the entire point of the ONE-SIDED comment and no imaginary waifu is fawning over any picture of anyone here, unless the ccreator feels like drawing that for some reason. And basically what I'm getting from the rest of this, is that you're either legitimately crazy, or trying way too hard to fit in to some sort of group that was never actually there in the first place. I can't tell if you're using Poe's Law as a weapon or one of its casualties, but either way I'm bothered.

>capable of being possessed in a literal way, by you, if you had enough motivation, guts, and know-how.

A real attainable goal, no matter how seemingly impossible to reach it may be, is still a real, attainable goal. But an imaginary fictional thing, is still just an idea in your head, not matter what. Honestly, I'd say it's the ones who fawn over the real people and never actually work towards that goal who are "worse." At least the waifufags seem pretty self-aware here.
>>
>>141117675

Fair enough, although from my point of view the possibility of it occurring is so small that it may as well be completely impossible. There's basically no difference between the two in that regard, imo.

Hey buddy. You gotta let this one go. I don't think you're prepared to comprehend how delusional and disappointed with life these people are. They're deadly serious about what they're talking about, logical fallacies and all.

I think of people like this as an option similar to someone becoming a school shooter. I'm sure there's a number of paths you can take when you really get desperate enough, but those two are pretty clear examples of what happens to the human mind when it's left to deteriorate for long enough with practically zero meaningful social interaction.

There's no explaining away their justification for spending hours a day talking to themselves and pretending to be little girls. Once you've hit that point, there's no redemption. You're there because you've convinced yourself that it's where you've always belonged, and no amount of arguing will drag the cum-stained pillow out of your retard-strength grasp.

So, everything that's not real is an 2D lines on paper, also known as pictographs?
So, Santa, atlantis, ghosts and philosopher's stone are in fact images?
And if someone has fallen in love with a character in some book or without pictures, he still only loves drawing of a girl?
>No it's not. because a husband and a wife are two real things, that interact with each other, not just fawn over pictures of each other from afar.
So for example, when a wife and husband have to separate because husband is going to fight in a war. It means that the wife only loves a picture of his husband because they can't interact with each other and only fawn over pictures of each other from afar?
Also I said that you can interact with waifu just fine.
>Nevermind that you ignored the entire point of the ONE-SIDED comment and no imaginary waifu is fawning over any picture of anyone here, unless the ccreator feels like drawing that for some reason.

I wasn't trying to imply that the yakuza are boogeymen.

I was referring to the tattoos being more of a ritual than anything else. The process of getting it done is as much part of it as the finished product. As such the artist who do these tattoos tend to do them for Yakuza exclusively. I have never seen a genuine Irezumi on anyone but Yakuza.

As a defense mechanism, I am expecting you to scream normalfag, but nothing justifies having an imaginary gf.

You don't know how good you have it. I'd take Panjeet over Krystal any day.

>he bought into the waifu meme
Ya, you are a normalfag, not for thinking having an imaginary GF is bad, but for believing anything but a tiny tiny minority drank the koolaid of genuine waifuism.
>>
>>141121189
>imaginary gf
Most people don't take it seriously. Fantasizing about having a imaginary girlfriend, 2D or 3D is something a lot of people do I guess, but all the "commitment to your waifu" bullshit is just a meme.
>>
>>141121252

Tell me about it. What is it?

Stay newt.

What started off as a joke brought legitimate wizards who thought it was okay to have one. Now you get revisionists who say it was never a joke, in an effort to fit in and look "cool". A pathetic display.

>>141121364
Look at all the waifu threads that used to be pushed by IRC. People take this seriously.

Apparently some member of a drug cartel took his waifu into battle against the Feds and rival gangs everyday

Seems like in the end, the Feds managed to sieze his waifu in a raid
>>
>>141121481
That doesn't change the fact most people do not take it seriously, apart from fapping to their waifu or getting a dakimakura.
>>
>>141113508
Why? I mean you can finally become one with your beloved waifu.
>>
>>141121364
>>141121313
This, it really are just the normalfags who visit 4chan once in a full moon via a reddit link that believe it is anything but a joke.

>>141121481
No, there is a minute minority of mentally ill people who actually go for the full waifu thing. The vast majority still just uses it as a tongue in cheek way of saying they really really like a character or are even infatuated with them.
>>
>>141112430
Nice video, I wanted to post it myself.
I guess I'll watch it for like the tenth time.
>>
My waifu is on my mousepad, and I think that's plenty enough
>>
>>141121571
It may have started as a joke but it's grown to be a big thing, with multiple large waifufag communities where rule 1 is "you have to be a serious waifufag to post here" and more people join in every day.

It's a growing movement
>>

Do you have proofs? Because that's never occurred to me.
>>
>>141121661

>>141121681

People who make vid related
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YtwPPsBKGQ
are the reason why people like you have come into existence, people who bought into the joke.

That vid has 480000 views, and most likely everyone of those 480000 people believe waifuism is a genuine thing after watching that vid.

The /mai/ boards on redditchan and tohno
Several IRCs
Steam groups
the /r/waifuism reddit isn't supposed THAT cancerous
>>
>>141121843
What? That video shits on waifufags and calls it a joke. Why would someone become a waifufag after watching it?
>>
>>141121855
Ya, you are just posting examples of troll groups.

There is a massive "sproink" dota steamgroup as well, you think they also genuinely devoted themselves to doe?

Jesus, are you dense? I am saying that vids like that cause idiots like you to believe waifuism is a genuine real thing, that it is something more than a meme.

Like, where do people like you get your info from to convince yourselves that this is anything but a meme out of control?

Do you even know what the word meme means? You're using it like the word joke. It's really frustrating to be even marginally intelligent on the internet anymore.

Yes, it's clearly a meme. You don't know why, but it is.

Funny because I've never seen such a person on /a/.
The most pathetic waifufags I've ever seen was just one or two NEETs with literally no friends and ambitions from future. But even they didn't talked to themselves for hours, pretended to be little girls and dirty their dakimakura in such a retarded way.
Most people are just average nerds, with job, small group of friends, but actually happy with their lives and the one they love.
You aren't necessary normafag, just ignorant. Here is real normalfag: >>141121364

>>141121924
So, you really think dozens of people would just ironically spend their days talking about some chosen character, buying merch, sharing their fake feelings and experiences, living in celibate, celebrating birthdays, valentines, Christmas and making all kinds of artistic works dedicated to her, just to troll people like you to thinking they really do it unironically?

The meme is that every so often we get plebbit and/or crossposters getting very upset about "pathetic waifufags", much to the amusement of the rest of us who will do our best to encourage the guy to get more upset by acting like waifufags.

That all being said I have genuinely devoted myself to Asuka, as no real woman can put a light to her brilliance.
>>
>>141122122
Doesn't require much thought, we all know it started as a joke.
