Talk about your favourite off the radar show. I don't mean something that's obscure just because it's old, I mean something that barely anyone has watched or talk about on /a/.

Legendary Gambler Tetsuya is one of my favourite shows, and I think it should be held in the same regard as Akagi and Kaiji are, though it lacks in the budget department, Tetsuya makes up for that with rich character development and engaging story arcs. What sets it apart from other mahjong anime, is that the protagonist, Asada Tetsuya appears at first to be a professional in a similar way in which Akagi is a genius, however, in the first episode he is defeated by a player with far more skill. Another difference is the focus on cheating, which means that Tetsuya isn't always likely to win, and sometimes has to escape through the bathroom window, leaving the viewer with a feeling of tension and suspense, whilst Akagi nearly always wins. Without gushing too much, I'd say Tetsuya is worth watching for anyone who enjoys Kaiji or Akagi, mahjong, or just enjoys watching lesser know shows.

I'd love ti see this board's reaction to Kizuoibito.

And I ought to watch MD Geist...

It's worth it. Like Angel Cop and Genocyber, they need to be watched if you really want to have a wide knowledge of anime and all the obscure brownie points.

Please watch Tetsuya as well, it's a great show and really deserves a bigger fanbase.

You know fags will just post anything and everything because they're mostly just imbeciles who barely even lurk /a/. I can't name a single one, to be honest. Maybe manga instead, but even then, just that one guy will attempt to correct me every time.

Shouwa Monogatari, aired in 2011 but took a couple of years to get subbed so no one watched it.

Watch it if you like family feels and early 60s Japanese pop songs.

Anyone remember Black Cat

It was pretty bland and forgettable but it was one of the first manga series I read as a kid volume by volume. I think it was genuinely a case of just picking something off the shelf almost at complete random and going with it, I had no idea what to read or look for.

It had an anime but I never watched it

I'm not gonna lie, I watched part of this on Japanese livestream and everyone typed "We Are" in katakana when that part came because it just sounds like it

That's some serious Engrish, the "ch" in reach and the "t" in out are barely audible

Another fantastic lesser known show is Legend of Black Heaven. It's a very heart warming story about a salaryman who used to be part of a band and how he has to deal with not being a rockstar any more. There's also another part of the story that's quite different but it only makes the show even better.
>>141076666
Well, you might be right, it always sounded like Reach out to me as that's the title of the song. Was that the video game stream?
>>
>>141075426
There's this It's really underrated. Nobody ever talks about it. The story is straight to the point and The Characters are very well written.

It's called Naruto

I remember an autistic girl I knew who loved that manga, but she liked homestuck so I never trusted her recommendations.

I didn't think it was very good.
I did enjoy it though

An OVA rather than a series but Bobby's Girl (or Bobby's in Deep) is amazing.

I also think that anybody who takes their /a/ history seriously needs to watch Cream Lemon. Not even joking.

Now that I think of it, Black cat made a cameo in ToLoveru and was also where the whole nanomachine shape shifting gimmick in Yami came from.

To think that Yabuki previously made a manga that wasnt borderline hentai.
>>
>>141077019
The opening was fantastic, that's what made me watch it originally. I enjoyed it mainly because it was so simple, sure the space stuff was a bit weird and it felt a bit rushed at the end, but all of it felt heartfelt and genuine. Though watching it late at night with a friend like how you used to watch anime back when it only came on syfy after midnight probably gave me rose tinted glasses, I still enjoyed every episode and all the cast. It's kinda like one of those comfy family films you watch at Christmas, not fantastic or deep, but enjoyable and fun.

As far as I know 22 of the 41 episodes are translated. Haven't checked beyond there. The first 22 gives you a lot though, including episode 4, 'Pop Chaser!' Easily one of the greatest pieces of hentai ever made.
>>
At this point nothing is obscure to me because I just see them as older anime, nothing else. I don't need to glorify what I'm watching. It's cute being new and thinking anime is obscure.
>>
I remember an OVA or manga similar to angel Densetsu about I think a salaryman meeting a delinquent girl for a day or something.

Himesama Goyojin (aka Princess Be Careful), an original anime which only aired on pay TV in Japan 10 years ago. The only reason I know it is because it aired on Animax. It was pretty fun and I liked the ED but it's still pretty obscure, and I don't think it even charted in sales.

Why wasn't Key the Metal Idol as popular as Lain? It's got all the right ingredients to be heralded as a classic OVA, it even had a North America release. It's better than Lain in my opinion.

>>141076713
Late reply but it was just a random livestream on FC2 (their stream quality supports more than potato quality thankfully)

I find watching Japanese livestreams to be a great way of discovering series you otherwise may have never seen or given the time of day
>>
>>141081477
Ah, because the guy whose translating the manga of Tetsuya livestreams the games and mahjong related anime and vidya on a regular basis.

Why has no one translate the Kindaichi Jikenbo series from 1997?
>>
>>141081667
the translation feels wrong though. And the quality is way too low it's very hard to read. Normally it would be fine for entertaining purpose, but with this quality I'm too lazy to think and solve the puzzles
