The fights between Mashirofags and Aoyamafags were vicious while it was airing. Since Mashiro is the main heroine and the 'winners' here tend to be merciless and unforgiving, the rival girl is going to get a lot of shit. Some disliked her from the beginning because of her role in the story and others for supposedly getting more scenes in the anime than she had in the LN, a common complaint from main heroine fans.
I don't think that warrants hating her though. And I'm not just saying that as one of her fans but she was really inoffensive compared to a lot of stuff in that series. She even helped push the OTP closer together. So I see her as kind of a victim of circumstance.
