It's like the author knew all along that all of the fights were just 'One who has the biggest furyoku wins'. I think it's the only SK fight that went like a JoJo fight with all those trickery, tactics and shit.

It wasn't really about Furyoku, it's just that Takei made it look like a big fucking deal when it's literally a mana pool.
Case in point SoF, Hao wasn't the strongest because of the high furyoku, bubt because SoF was batshit powerful as a spirit, the whole deal about going through the various hells to get the other nature spirits was essential because even by having as much or more furyoku than Hao he still had a much more powerful spirit than anyone.
To further add on this, remember Azazel? It had almost as much power as SoF, but the user had just enough Furyoku to use it for 3 seconds, and when Hao destroyed the over soul he literally killed the user by simple brain shock.
Furyoku is just your fuel and shield against mental damage, what matters most is your spirit's power.

Nah, Furyoku's pretty important. The more Furyoku you have, the more you can open up your options. Amidamaru's strong, but the variety of forms he could take as Yoh's Oversoul were thanks to Yoh's own power.

Not really, it was just Yoh learning how to use OS through the series, it has nothing to do with Furyoku.
Hao himself only used two forms of SoF despite having shitloads of furyoku and more knowledge than Yoh.

That's because Hao never actually got stronger throughout the story. He'd already reached the pinnacle of his strength before it even started, so his Oversoul never had to evolve.
As Yoh got stronger, his Oversoul evolved as well. Byakko was the strongest Oversoul he could achieve while channeling Amidamaru.

Reread the manda, the changes in Yoh's OS are due to him getting better at using it, the only real powerups were the ones before fighting against the ice team when Anna tought the team a part of the Cho Senji Ryakettsu and after dying and going to hell, what matters is that he gets more skilled at using his spirit, same thing that happened with Ryu.
And even then, the whole part about the Cho Senji Ryakettsu was pretty bullshit because later on Takei basically said that there's only techinques such as Fumon Tonko and the only way to get more a significant increase in Furyoku is dying and being brought back to life after a trip to the GS.
Furyoku is the most important factor until volume 16 or so when Mikihisa appears, BTFO Ren and basically tells him that Furyoku alone won't mean anything in the long run, then there's the Horo Horo fight against Blocken which consolidates the fact, since Horo Horo wins a fight with just a Furyoku value of 3000 against Blocken who had around 15000 iirc, the whole gimmick about that fight is that Horo Horo used spirits that were magnitudes stronger than Blocken's, at the cost of his life since he could barely sustain the cost of the OSs, but he managed to freeze Blocken and pull a draw at least.
