Utaha is shit because a character like her is completely unrelatable as it is pure fantasy. Highschool girl who sells LN's by the tens of thousands who then takes an otaku's opinion to heart and falls head over heels in love with him.
Eriri's backstory, while not fulfilling the great otaku fantasy, is far more relatable because it is closer to something that could be conceivable IRL. Childhood friends, he doesn't want to tone down his autism, she can't choose between her social life and her friend, they drift apart, feelings never really gone though. The only part of her character I find unbelievable is the forced lewd doujin artist, no real reason for it to have been lewd doujin other than for the sake of comedy. The rest of her character has, by anime's standard, some depth to it.

So? Do you watch anime so that you can like and admire girls who are like 3D girls? Most people watch anime to escape from reality, they are not looking for things that resemble it.

Well what I was basically saying that Utaha is the fantasy girl, whereas Eriri is the "real" girl (in as far as that is possible in anime).
In a funny way, because it is anime, these roles reverse. Utahathe fantasy girl feels more real, she is a fantasy everyone is familiar with and to most people it is nothing more than a fantasy, a real life experience like it never occurring.
Eriri however is the fantasy of "a what if", I believe a lot of people have met girls in highschool, where both they and the girl did dumb shit causing things to go awry only for them to later regret their actions and wish it had gone otherwise. Eriri is the "what if" fantasy, as such I find it far more fulfilling.
I am not phrasing this very well, but it is 2AM, English is not my mother tongue, it is 4chan, and I am sure you got the gist of what I am saying anyway.

Nice logic. And by anime standards, people dislike characters that are too close to being 3DPD. It's the same reason Michiru is just as unpopular as Eriri. Both are unlikeable and too reminiscing of 3D women and thus are the low points of the show.

I also like Michiru because she is the most reminiscent of a "real person". Then again I believe anime in general should embrace the human side of characters more again, bringing out the human side in characters. A lot of shows are filled with characters I don't give 2 shits about because they forego any sort of humanity.

I dislike Tomo not for his role in in relationship wit Eriri breaking down. That is an aspect I actually enjoyed most. It is the typical "MC is insensitive to everything and everyone around him" trope that I dislike (which is exactly why I like the Eriri "drama" as that shitty trope gets largely removed in those moments).
