The first one actually has motivation. He was a narcicisst who want to accomplish his childhood fantasy of being an omnipotent ruler of world worshiped by everyone. Kenji was just the person he envied as he got all the attention from his peer as well as the person he unknowingly seek to impress.
And at his peak he basically had world in his clutch and his rival framed and vanished from surface of earth.
The second one has poorly written soap-opera childhood grudge again Kenji and I agree he was shit.
