I can definitely see why they narrow down the episodes to more straightforward avenues. Ace Attorney cases have a habit of meandering all over the place, which is fine if you're playing them yourself, but can be boring as shit just to watch; Whole episodes would be dedicated to plot points that are just dropped in the face of new evidence.
Without a doubt, tho, best part of the show is these original scenes covering interactions that couldn't be detailed with just sprites. Nick and Maya shenanigans are top tier, and the buildup for case 4 with Von Karma is primo too.
My hope is that this series does well enough (seems to be popular on broadcast TV in Nipland) that an all-original series can follow, with just extra cases or other slice of life things in between the big stuff.
