The pacing is wonky as is. Eps 1 and 2 were snappy, episode 3 had filler annd was very slow, 4 was slow as well, but still somewhat enjoyable.

They're doing 4 chapters an episode which is faster than SC which was 2 or 3 until halfway through Egypt and they started doing 4 chapter episodes and fucking 5 chapter episodes for DIO's World.
Nijimura Brother's is the second longest arc in DiU so it was to be expected it'd be 2.5 episodes. I don't know how much faster you could expect them to go when they're already on the brink with 4 chapters each episode except the first. And as much as I wish the pacing in SC was faster, the only way to do that was to make every episode in early SC 1 full fight and 1 half fight, and that would just be fucking ridiculous.
The DiU anime is gonna be slow paced but the manga was too, the difference is that you can speedread the manga at whatever speed you like whereas the anime is at a set pace. It'll always be slower than just reading it.
There's 3 chapters of Nijimura Brothers left so I don't know if we'll get a start on The Lock or not this week. It's one of the few arcs I can see working with a 5 chapter episode because it's only 5 chapters long and not much actually happens. If everything was 5 chapter episodes then we'd get DIO's World tier pacing which would suck because it's just be like animating everything but not giving it time to sink in, like they're just ticking shit off a checklist.

Yep. DiU was long overall but it had heaps of mid length arcs. Longest is SHA at 12 chapters and then Nijimura Brothers at 10. Crazy Diamond is Unbreakable might be tied at 10 or it might be 9, I don't remember.
It's surprising considering how fucking early it was. VA waited until like a third of the way through to do Grateful Dead which was like 12 or 13, then near the end they did Green Day which was the second longest weekly arc in the manga, the longest being DIO's World with like 18 or 19 chapters. But the Valentine fight lasted like 2 years because of monthly releases so that takes the cake.

Part 8 looks promising so far but I'm not including it (except for Beetle Tendency because how can you possibly surpass that) until it's finished. The only contester for Hot Pants from parts 1 - 7 is FF and I'm not sure if you can count her since she's essentially a stand. That and I don't really like her design.

This makes him ambitious and cut-throat as fuck because he wanted nothing more than to climb his way out from the bottom. So he's one vicious, cunning mothefucker just like the original Dio Brando.
He just wasn't much like DIO of Part 3... which alt Deigo was a lot like, actually. Which makes sense, if you had a powerful stand that could also stop time while you punch your opponent's lungs out, you'd probably have a supreme overlord kind of confidence too.

It wasn't a BAD fight, it just got me butthurt because that Diego essentially just dropped in for the final scene and had no real weight beforehand or any interactions with the character
That sort of thing is fine for halfway-through fights or just regular battles, not for the final one in the entire part. Especially after some of the best fights in the entire series where a bunch of character arcs came together.
