I'm not going to name a series, but pretty much every scifi/fantasy battle academy harem, ever.
>eps 1-2 are extremely well written and fun, all the female characters are cute as hell
>ep 3 is slow, boring, time is spent on introducing the school, usually nothing happens
>ep ends with a promise of some sort of action in the next ep
>ep 4 forgets about the last episode's cliffhanger and goes right into introducing the main villain, who is about as deep as a puddle and extremely generic
>then the rest of this episode is spent with the girls
>eps 5-7 are spent with the girls, usually introducing a new girl every 1-2 episodes
>eps 8-9 are some sort of light-hearted filler or a subplot with the girls that is fun
>suddenly, in eps 10-12, the plot turns super serious and edgy, no fun at all
>all the villains come out of the woodwork and they're terribly generic, annoying, and worst of all, not cute
>the series is resolved very quickly in the last 5 minutes of ep 12 with either a cop-out, or no resolution/closure of any kind
>no season 2, just the same bullshit being re-hashed half a dozen times per season in "new and original" anime

Akame ga Kill could've been decent edgelord stuff if it didn't run on "everyone can die". Alita/Gunnm did that better (by mostly writing characters off when the author isn't out for blood) and its power levels are retarded.
SAO was probably always bad but the second half scared a lot of the normalfags (part of me liked the second half for more cohesive pacing but everything else is ruined by Kirito's sue swag bending characters/events to his whim is bad. People don't mind the overpowered if they don't bend the plot to their will).

Say what you want the first couple of episodes of SAO set up something that could have been pretty good, then it just went out of its way to be as frustratingly average as it possibly could. Literally every turn from those few episodes onward were the wrong ones to force in the shittiest of tropes you could imagine. The entirety of the series should have been clearing SAO but no they're at floor 50 a few episodes in.

So when Erin turned into a titan I thought that Erin was a special case of someone who could overload the parasite until the titan body dies while retaining his sanity and running off purr rage.
