After reading ch.6 of this I decided to reread Gantz. It was a lot more enjoyable than I remembered, especially now that I didn't have to wait for chapters. But Phase 3 is still pretty terrible

It was all over the place. To me Gantz was fucking amazing when Kurono got stuck alone and then was forced to 1v1 then the whole school situation happened.
All the new people seemed alright at first but the potential was wasted overall. Like the amount of chapters we spent on that one stupid chick who ended up cloning Kurono. Like fuuuuck stop wasting everyones time.

The main problem of the Osaka arc was the lenght of the final battle, since this movie will probably be 90 minutes long, then it won't last forever like it did in the manga.
I'm hoping for plenty of monster designs, otherwise it will lose a lot of it's charm.

The only problem with the Osaka mission what its pacing, aside of that it was like any other Gantz mission and even better, every mission get to transmit the terror of being there to the reader, that's the magic of Gantz. The only bad part of the series is katastrophe, for me Gantz is over when the same Gantz write "FIN" after the italy mission, that for me it was the best mission of all.

The Tokyo Team was all over the place without proper leadership, The Osaka Team was hyped as this group of super capable assholes that got swated like flies once things got really tough.
Everyone was so unberable to witness that I wasn't rooting for anyone there to win.

Despite the short length, it really was one of the most terrifying missions ever shown. It was a landslide genocide by practically unkillable rock gods and angels that destroy you upon instant touch. It tests the players by how far they have advanced in the entire game, whether you survived and gained lots of experience in fighting or you saved up points and bought high-tier weapons beforehand. At the same time though, everyone was involved, including newbies or those who hardly prepared themselves, so you are forced to fight to protect yourself or protect others while getting yourself at risk. It was a high-risk,high-reward challenge, which is something satisfying after the hellish hunt in the Osaka mission.

Complete ignorance of what was going on. They get fucking send to Italy out of nowhere and in daylight.
Dead and chaos everywhere. Literally the first thing they see is Oka super suit split in half followed by countless players completely destroyed.
Desperation and impotency from all the sides, nothing fucking worked, the suits, the weapons, everything, at first stance, looked hopeless.
Lots of action and teams gathered in a same place, shit was breath taking, and it was just fucking static images.
It was short and even so it got so much things happening at the same time. Man, why Oku had to do Katastrophe, all I wanted was more missions.

I'm not sure in what other series they do this to compare though. The Buddha mission leave pretty clear that anyone could die, and it was one of the reason I was so attracted to this series.
