I liked Yuuki no Baton and Yuna and Karin's songs but Togo and Sonoko's songs in particular felt too generic and the sound and tone didn't match the lyrics at all. Sometimes that works, but in this case, considering how samey every single song was, it just felt like they didn't put any effort into them.
Who the main character is seemed like it was barely relevant until the very end in the anime. It was basically an ensemble cast most of the time, so Yuuna having her name in the title didn't really detract from the others' importance.
All that was demanded of her was to be cute and genki before the ending, which she managed just fine even while not appearing thoughtful. As long as the writer gets around to it eventually it's OK to not simultaneously develop every character at once IMO.

I'm more hyped for this upcoming chapter than I was for the previous big battle chapter. It's weird to realize that, for some reason, I assumed the world naturally would all be fire because it had Vertex everywhere. If that's not the case then it opens up numerous possible interesting story developments.
Were the Vertex in fact responsible for state of the environment? What if it was caused by the local gods, humanity, or yuushas? That would be a fun, suffering-packed twist. Maybe fighting in an un-forestized zone causes crazy collateral damage and the girls will end up regretting it.
For how many miles around Shikoku is the place ravaged? It might not be the whole planet but just a moat Vertex dug around Shikoku because they're so troublesome to siege.

Hey now, Yuuki might seemed a bit fucked up in that episode, but episode 11 made it clear that she wasn't fighting because of some childish admiration or some empty idealistic ideas.
Thinking back about it, both the first and last time she transformed was to protect Tougou. There is no Tougou for Takashima, though.

What she said there is just a given, though. Everyone wants to take back the old world, every heroes want to help and protect people. Takashima's no.1 reason to do it just seems more shallow compared to the others'.

You could say the same about all the other Yuushas before we got a chapter devoted entirely to them and their reason to fight. In fact, like you said you could say the same for Yuuki Yuuna up until that episode.
The only difference between all the other heroes and Takashima Yuuna is that she hasn't got her own chapter/episode/flashback sequence, so we haven't yet seen her reason to fight. So it's far too early to say her reason is shallow or meaningless. Wait until we get the inevitable chapter going into her background in depth. I guarantee you'll be eating your words.

So, I got interested by seeing this here, and I went and watched the first episode of the anime...
Is there going to be anything to see in this series? It's the most generic thing ever. Didn't catch my interest at all.

I also thought the first episode was terrible, and dropped it for months. I ended up picking it up again a few months after it had finished airing and loved it. I can't say it'll be the same for you, but maybe you should give it more episodes
