It's a shame FelineYogi dropped the project. The BDs are shot and the only subbed episodes past 40 are Crunchyroll rips that are basically VHS quality. Wish somebody else would get subbed DVD rips out so it'd be worth rewatching.

They didn't. They're continuing on doing the DVDs. It's because there are no BD raw uploads currently.
At worst they're currently stalled but they have released info on their progress and they are at episode 43.

Watched the first movie a while back, and I really fucking enjoyed it. So dark and surreal but really whimsical at the same time.There was just one thing that bothered me - why the fuck did Maetel and Tetsuro KISS at the end of the movie? Like it wasn't a little peck either, it was a full blown fucking kiss. What the fuck? There was literally no romantic development at any point beforehand, and if there was a little bit then it obviously would have flown over the viewers head considering she's an exact replica of his fucking mom. It caught me completely off guard and pulled back an otherwise wonderful film

The only unfortunate things of the GE999 movies is that they aren't true 999 tellings, Harlock (because of the nature of his character) invariably steals the spotlight.

Tetsurou is one of my favorite male leads in anime.
He is competent enough and can kick butt on occasion but you still can see that he is just a young boy with momma issues at the end of the day.
I'm loaded with flu and about to get comfy with some episodes since it's dark and sleeting outside. One of my favourite series, love the bleak, melancholy and surreal episodes but my one complaint is that it gets fairly repetitive due to following a similar formula.

Is it wrong to just skip an episode when it's boring or when uses the same formula as a previous episode? It start to get a little repetitive after some time.

Count Mecha was fucking based. I really dig his design. Felt it was really wasted to kill him of so early. He could have been Char Aznabel of this series or something.
Also the body Matel used was designed from Tetsuro's mother am I right? Is there any specific reason for this? Or she choosen it simply from aesthetic reason?
