What's your pleasant surprise of the season? For me it's Re: Zero, at least until episode 4
I stopped watching anime for like 3 days and i got 1 episode behind in a lot of stuff. So far the gap keeps growing bigger and i don't know why i'm not doing anything to stop it.
If i don't fix that i'll end up only watching asterisk, kiznaiver and kabaneri this season

Same, I didn't pick up 40 shows but did start with 20 and am still watching 20. I normally start with 10 max and tend to drop half or more of those by now. Fucking incredible season; I haven't been this looking forward to weekly shows in at least 3 years.

Tanaka - went really good with my hangover.
Haifuri - dropped after first episode, but decided to give it a chance once more and it kinda sticks with me. Cute girls.
Joker game - actually thinking about dropping it. It plays it's cards by making everyone but mcs incompetent. Stuff like dust bomb or parts of ep2 was good though.
Mayoiga and Kiznaiver - both have much higher chances to be dropped than JG.
Kuma Miko - eh. Jokes about her being from a village don't really stick with me. Might drop or finish.
Macross delta - probably my biggest suprise of season. Thought it would be idol shit and got idol shit with fun stuff.
Kuromukuro - 2nd biggest suprise. I like the chemistry of the show. Flows well enough to keep me intrested even if mc is going to be placed in fucking jap school. Army being relevant feels nice.
Re:zero - didn't know anything and really liked hour long episode. I don't have much expectations like great action scenes like some seem to do outside /a/, so I'm enjoying it alright.
Kabaneri - had my gripes with ep1 but ep2 was great. Except spinning zombie. I still don't understand that.
Jojo - I consider SC to be the weakest part so am enjoying Diamond a lot more.
Big order - music is used out of place most of the time. Characters are not that appealing to me. Probably gonna drop.
Netoge - it's going lower and lower with each episode. Candidate for drop.

BNHA - being a frame to frame adaptation doesn't help. Intresting stuff is way down the road. Good adaptation though.
Sakamoto - doesn't work for me outside manga. Too long. Higher pacing required.
Hundred and Cerberus - tits girl academy and somewhat generic fantasy world.
Endride - struggled for 4 episode trying to find good but it's time to end this ride.
Flying witch - Tanaka took the spot for it this season. Maybe one day when I'm out of sol.
Twin exorcists - wanted to watch but never came back to ep2. Might be a sign from heaven.

Kiznaiver falls apart at episode 3. Joker Game is well produced but you may or may not find it boring. You need to try an episode of Sakamoto desu ga? because you'll probably love it and it'll only take an episode to know whether or not you will.

What makes you think that? It establishedsave points and the possibility that death isn't the only thing that resets timewhich means there's a sense of progression outside of the MC's head, but I don't see how that ruined the story in any way. To not introduce new mechanics to the story would have made it stagnant and repetitive, so I think that was necessary.

Really wanted to like this one but the characters still aren't interesting and Hisomu was the straw that broke the camel's back (I don't like Sonozaki either, but I would hatefuck the shit out of her). I never found masochistic characters funny. I'll probably lurk threads until something happens that ignites my interest in this anime once more but as for now, it's looking grim.
Overall I was hyped about this season initially but it seems like it's waning unfortunately. Despite that, I like it more than Winter and Summer looks like it's boring.

With Kiznaiver, perhaps the characters will evolve as the series continues. If it's 24 episodes, it has time to evolve them but for now, all of them seem one note to me. I can see why one would dislike the MC though.

Actually, you're right about that. That was pretty annoying. The way she threw herself at the MC was pretty disconcerting though to be fair, so I've been willing to let that excuse of his slide for now, but it is wearing out fast. Hopefully they either ship them or give him a new better reason to keep rejecting her advances.
