No matter how you slice it, it's going to end up with the Deku being overpowered anyway. That's how all shonen protags work, whether he remains quirkless and uses gadgets or gets a power. I'm glad the story went the way it did because it's supposed to be a tribute to western cape comics. All Might is essentially Supes, the quintessential, infallible embodiment of heroism. The story of a successor's journey to master the overwhelming power, to the extent of destroying his own body to a pulp in pursuit of that, is interesting. Usually, when protags over exert themselves they just end up with magical anime bandages and everything is fine otherwise, Deku actually gets fucked up with permanent mounting consequences to his body each fight. Also appreciate how he actually changes physically from a lanklet to full otter mode. Hori could have left it at "he got buff" and that's it, but he goes out of his way to show Deku continuing to work out and eat healthy even after he receives OFA.

I don't mean to shitpost, but the anime introduce a theme next episode that will form a fairly strong basis on what is to come, and forms a fairly strong part of the tension in the story line.
