the show is baffling because it's really fucking terrible but there's these little moments that are great.
the animation is often terrible but then there was that one part in the latest episode where Redd White spins around or where Phoenix BTFOd him which looked actually great. or the direction during the investigation segment with Redd White being good but awkward camera angles and 3d bystanders in the courtroom. using tracks from the games works fine and waiting with the pursuit theme til ep 4 was a good move. but then there's all the forgettable original tracks and missed opportunities like the turnabout sisters theme not being used.
it's like half the staff at A1 is skilled enough to make the anime work and the other half is inept.

Having the glove just HAPPEN to be there was a bit stupid, especially since if the glove hadn't been there an entire half of the case wouldn't exist.
And then of course there was the whole "I can refuse to testify but I'm still going to stand up here and chat my ass off" bit which irritated me a bit. You can't usually just turn that sort of thing on or off. It's a more or less faithful adaptation that simultaneously does its own thing, which gives it a fresh feel. The VA work is fairly decent although nothing to write home about. Adds new scenes and references future events that players will know about but anime-only people won't catch until later (without alienating the anime-onlyfags), both of which are nice things. Pacing could stand to be better but it accomplishes everything it needs to in a decent amount of time.

Animation is mediocre on a good day and absolutely distractingly terrible on an average day. The OST is about 80% shit, somehow making even better tracks from the games like Cornered sound underwhelming. Original tracks are hit or miss, but usually manage to keep the feel of the scene well. This is especially upsetting because they didn't even need to MAKE most of the tracks, as there's like 3~5 versions of just about every song available in Capcom's audio library (which they should've had access to).
I'd say it's decent but needs a lot of stuff done to fix it. Hopefully most of the blatant animation errors will be fixed when the BDs come out, but nothing's likely going to fix that OST.

Well, as far as the 'no Maya' complaints go at least it's more that they character that they tried to plug the gap with is a bit of a Mary Sue and has the aesthetic sensibilities of a pokemon trainer.
