Yeah I thought the movie production was pretty pointless and kind of came out of nowhere. I just read the chapter where they get their movie judged and it's really starting to feel like mangaka is rushing to conclude everything. It's a real shame since it started off so strong. I still enjoyed it and I'm hoping the last couple chapters will be able to end things nicely.

Because it needs to portray the abundance of shitty people that are rotten from the inside out in the real world. You can say "they don't develop" but that's the point. People don't change that easily, especially bad people. Shouya had to go through all of that to be redeemed, it would defeat the purpose if everyone else got off it without any effort.
Alright just finished it. It had a satisfying ending, but I'm a little disappointed it didn't focus on the romance, especially since they kept hinting at it like when Nishimiya confessed halfway through.
I guess I'm happier with it being more about friendship and less about romance though. Pretty sad to see it end goodbye Ichida.

I am annoyed how much Ishida put effort in trying to be friend again with all the person who bullied him and Nishinomiya, especially in the ending. He rationalized that he want to make Nishy have happy life full with friends, but the problem is she already have him, his sis and the tall girl. (The midget is +/- as his friendship always need some kind of condition or reward). They can just hang out together, befriend with a new decent person like Mashiba and go on with their normal lives. Instead he keep trying to go back to those assholes and so play along with midget's stupid movie, forcing all the drama. Even at the end it seem he and Nishinomiya is going to greet those asshole classmate and teacher and act like nothing happen. The only person semi-worth forgiving in that bunch is Ueno as she actively seek to make amend to Ishida, too bad she doesn't do the same with Shouko.
