Main reason why gundam fans generally rank G Gundam low is because how different it is compare to the rest, it really doesn't follow the space opera formula like the rest. I personally not a fan of the gundam franchise no matter how much I try to give it a chance but I definitely love G gundam.
It was the one of the only two gundam that I enjoy, the second was Gundam Build Fighter.

Only very barely, that arc ended on episode 21 and the show had 43 episode. So that's basically half an entire series of no discipline and outright insubordination. Seed's teenage love spat isn't really a big deal in comparison.
