Well if you take all the "edge" out of the story there certainly was the message that the "demons" were only "demons" to people who were "demons" themselves. The underlying message that mankind didn't deserve to survive was one which permeated this whole story.
of course this ignores the fact the pink haired demons sterilized/altered or killed men at random to spread their species, those altered would then impregnate women with more of their kind. This is a vicious act of violation much like a plague or a genetic disease; and shown to be done mostly at random, not as some form of karmic justice. Which amusingly undercuts the author's main point which was humans probably didn't deserve to continue as a species and these things were some sort of cosmic retribution for our evils.
Viewed strictly from the lense of "humanity's" point of view, these creatures were a plague which threatened the very existence of humanity; and probably should have been exterminated without question, debate or even interaction. babied born should have been euthanized at birth, and the men who spawned them executed or chemically castrated to prevent the further spread of the illness. Since humanity wasn't taking those steps for self preservation, it could be argued in that universe we were too dumb to survive as a species, and not (as the author contested) too evil to deserve to survive
